Reporting & Reconciliation
The Reporting & Reconciliation group is a foundational pillar of Adyen's product offering. It enables our broad portfolio of merchants to conduct business critical activities centered around reporting and reconciliation through data access and analysis. The Reporting & Reconciliation group also produces reports for agencies across the globe to demonstrate that Adyen is compliant with regulations such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), GDPR, etc. It is a key driver of trust and satisfaction for all our merchants and partners.
As an Engineering Manager in the Reporting & Reconciliation group, you will lead a cross-functional team of talented and motivated individuals to deliver key reporting analytics products that are accurate, reliable, timely, scalable, and user-friendly You will work closely with a variety of stakeholders and product development teams to set a new standard for reporting & reconciliation and drive this adoption across the company.

What you'll do
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product, data engineers, data analysts, data platform engineers, backend and frontend engineers, and other key stakeholders within Adyen
- Customer Focus: Maintain an in-depth understanding of who your customers are and how your product/features are benefiting them via direct collaboration with customers
- Product Strategy: Alongside your product peer, craft a long-term vision for your team's product that pragmatically balances trade-offs and aligns with the overarching company vision
- Goal Setting: Establish clear individual and team objectives that harmonize with Adyen's strategic data and engineering ambitions
- Team Motivation and Coaching: Have a multiplier effect (on your team and beyond) by finding alignment between team and individual growth goals and coaching in areas such as engineering best practices, scalable architecture design, and product roadmap planning
- Team Environment: Cultivate a team environment characterized by open communication and constructive feedback, collaboration, autonomy, ownership, accountability, high velocity delivery and measurable impact
- Identify and Grow Talent: Nurture the growth of your team both by supporting upskilling and career progression and by hiring new team members who embody the Adyen culture and possess the required skills to make meaningful contributions
Who you are- Leadership and Mentoring: Proven experience in hiring, mentoring, coaching, and developing top engineering talent and teams with a focus on increasing diverse perspectives. Ability to provide honest, direct, and actionable feedback followed by relevant coaching and guidance
- Execution: Experience in various execution methodologies and applying the right amount of process for efficient value delivery. Depth in experience identifying and actively addressing opportunities for team enablement and efficiency via one or more execution frameworks
- Experience in Big Data: Proven track record of 5+ years in a hands-on data engineering role, with at least 2 years of leadership experience. Previous focus on financial and/or regulatory reporting and reconciliation products is a plus
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in distributed data systems, tools, and languages such as: Python, PySpark, Airflow, Delta lake, Hadoop, Kafka, SQL, Git. Experience with backend engineering is a plus
- Strategic Thinking: Proven track record of collaborating with senior leadership and product peers to shape strategic direction, including product roadmaps
- Communication and Team Player: Exceptional communicator who can clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-engineers, foster a culture of collaboration, and exhibit robust management skills and technical acumen
- Quality Mindset: A strong history of ensuring quality in the delivery of their team(s), fostering a culture of high standards and continuous improvementHands-On Approach to Observability: Familiarity with observability tools and technologies such as Elastic Search, Prometheus, Kibana, and Grafana to define, implement, and track performance and identify opportunities for improvement in existing systems
Minimum Qualifications:- 2+ years experience in managing engineering teams within a data engineering environment
- 5+ years of experience in a hands-on data engineering role within a fast paced tech environment that utilizes distributed systems
- Full professional proficiency in English
