Associate Enterprise Architect

Based in Toronto, this role will be a member of the CIO organization's Enterprise Architecture team, established in October 2023. As an Associate Enterprise Architect, you will play a critical role in empowering application teams to drive innovation while avoiding duplication of effort and ensuring alignment with organizational standards.

As a member of our CIO Enterprise Architecture team, you'll play a key role in empowering application teams to drive innovation while ensuring alignment with organizational standards. Your challenge will be to balance rapid feature implementation with essential governance processes, creating a seamless integration that enables teams to innovate at speed without compromising quality or security. You'll develop streamlined processes, provide clear guidelines, and foster a culture of "smart governance" to accelerate our ability to deliver new features and adapt to changing market demands.

About the Role

In this opportunity as an Associate Enterprise Architect, you will:
  • Enhance architecture transparency by working with application teams to document their architectures and technology stacks, and to understand their architecture challenges
  • Create mechanisms to identify and report technical debt
  • Facilitate the creation of architecture standards, converging tech stacks, focusing on cloud-modernization leveraging cloud-native technologies
  • Foster the adoption of architecture standards by collaborating with product- and platform engineering architects to create application templates and leverage infrastructure as code
  • Define and enhance ways of working, improving the maturity of enterprise architecture processes
  • Build automated mechanisms using modern cloud technologies and Generative AI to automate architecture governance
  • Facilitate architecture planning by collaborating with various application teams to define future architectures and roadmaps
  • Support initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions by providing architectural expertise and continuously optimizing architecture mechanisms


About You

You're a fit for the role of Associate Enterprise Architect if your background includes:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • Five years of experience in enterprise or IT architecture, with a focus on documenting current architectures, developing target architectures and roadmaps, and managing application and technology portfolios
  • Five years of experience in a customer-facing role focused on translating customer needs into architecture standards and patterns
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to iteratively enhance governance processes and define approaches with clear steps and deliverables
  • Proficient in using GenAI-powered assistants, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and citizen development
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and influencing at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to earn trust and drive consensus across different stakeholder groups

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • Proficient in agile methodologies and tools
  • Skilled in migrating and transforming legacy customer solutions to cloud platforms
  • Experienced in managing IT due diligence and integration planning for mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
  • Familiar with product organizations and federated operating models
