Summary

The Manager - Inland Procurement position is responsible for developing procurement strategies and managing projects related to Inland/Domestic transportation and international freight forwarding. This position will lead daily operations support in developing strategic sources and distribution of goods and services. They will also implement and support department objectives, drive cost savings, lead interdepartmental projects. Duties include but not limited to; facilitating and developing cross-functional vendor management processes, analyzing cost data, develop negotiation opportunities, assisting in refinement and establishing performance goals and KPIs to measure savings and enable continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Manage current supply base and develop/mature future supply base to support in International freight forwarding & all domestics transportation mode with its business needs
  • Develop and implement strategies for procuring and distributing of goods or services
  • Implement changes and develop processes with strategies to improve procurement of goods and services, increase cost efficiencies, set policies, and align guidelines across all departments
  • Negotiation with vendors/suppliers to secure advantageous terms, finalize contract terms, budget forecast, and cost
    • Identify areas to reduce cost and opportunities to achieve financial goals and business' budget
  • Manage projects related to cost optimization and goal to optimize margins for volume discounts, competitive pressure for procurement activities, i.e., prepare and analyze bids and RFx for procurement of all goods and services
    • Draft documents related to services/sales agreements
  • Responsible for gathering and preparing documents like quotes, proposals and purchase terms and conditions from suppliers
  • Ensure alignment between strategic procurement initiatives for all GUS operations team and identify areas of improvements to continually drive performance and business results
  • Continuously assess and improve procurement processes to drive efficiency, streamline operations, and reduce costs
  • Perform risk management and evaluations for all suppliers, ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide regular procurement reports and updates
  • Ensure compliance and policies, ethics, and goals in engagement of vendors
  • Responsible for maximizing the use of all the different tools in the ERP system to analyze trends to maintain a stead flow of the supply chain
  • Responsible for negotiating vendor contracts and understand price points and be able to negotiate effectively and create constructive relationships with vendors
  • Provide controls, oversight, and audit functions over supplier performance
  • Liaise with the leadership with current supply base needs, provide initial escalation point for contractual issues with supply base
  • Develop key relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business
  • Manage performance and workload of staff
  • Train staff and skills needed to enhance current skills for future growth

Compensation Range

$101,000-$113,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong negotiations, procurement, and conflict resolution skills required
  • Proficient PC skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database management systems required
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and drive actions with cross-functional groups required
  • Working knowledge of contract management practices, tracking and managing data, contracts, and timelines require
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to adjust to meet business needs, project management, and preparing executive summary reports required
  • Individual must be a self-starter with ability to work with limited direction, initiator, and management skills required
  • Ability to manage Financial, Cost, and Profit Analysis required

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
    • Master's Degree Preferred
  • 8 - 12 Years of Direct Experience in Strategic Sourcing, Automotive, Project Management, Contract Negotiations, Supply Chain Management, and/or Finance Required
    • 10 - 15 Years of Direct Experience Preferred
  • Business Development Experience Preferred
  • 4 - 7 Years of Supervisory Experience Required
    • 7 - 10+ Years of Supervisory Experience Preferred
  • 9 Years of Indirect Experience Required
  • Certificate/License related to the auto industry or logistics, Transportation, DOT Regulations
