Responsibilities
    • Lead the biomechanical design and prototyping of an exoskeleton- from concept to design verification testing to clinical trial.
    • Analyze kinematics and muscle activation to inform actuator placement, force requirements, and ergonomic design.
    • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to integrate sensors, actuators, and feedback loops into wearable systems.
    • Develop and run experiments to evaluate performance, range of motion, user experience, and safety.
    • Translate real-world user study data into actionable insights to drive design iteration.
    • Generate test protocols and documentation to support clinical use and regulatory pathways.
    • Collaborate with clinicians, occupational therapists, and users to validate exoskeleton effectiveness, safety, and usability in clinical and daily use scenarios.
    • Support design verification, risk assessment, and documentation for regulatory submissions.


Key Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field (M.S./Ph.D. preferred).
    • 5+ years of experience with electromechanical design and robotics. Exoskeleton design experience preferred.
    • Strong grasp of human biomechanics and kinematic modeling.
    • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and hands on prototyping.
    • Comfort working across hardware and software boundaries - especially with sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
    • Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or other tools for data analysis and simulation.


Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field (M.S./Ph.D. preferred).

$152,000 - $216,000 a year

The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as the candidate's geographic location, the role's scope and complexity, and the candidate's experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided here. The range listed is for candidates based in Alameda, California. Salary does not include the value of our generous total cash compensation package which includes an annual bonus and a 3-year long-term incentive plan (LTIP).
