The Awards and Directories Specialist plays a key role in the firm's strategic execution of its awards and directories program. Working closely with the other members of our Awards and Directories team, they will help to identify key awards and directories that align with the firm's strategic priorities and practice group objectives, assist with managing the end-to-end awards and directories process, and ensure that all submissions are crafted to tell compelling stories about the firm's practices, industries, and individual lawyers.

The Awards and Directories Specialist will collaborate closely with individual lawyers and business development leads to plan and create compelling awards submissions and will play a key role in researching and recommending new awards, regularly evaluating current awards, and coordinating the submission process for all awards and directories across the firm. In this capacity, they will work with our Communications, Business Development, Media Relations, Branding, Digital Marketing and Marketing Services teams to ensure award and directory submissions are effectively editorialized and all award and recognition wins are promoted across firm marketing channels. Along with other members of the Awards and Directories team, they will be responsible for maintaining all awards processes, communicating all relevant awards-related information about deadlines, best practices and results to lawyers and our Client Development team, and the tracking of awards in the firm's awards and directories database.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Awards and Directories to evaluate the current submissions process and to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for awards, recognitions and directories that aligns with the firm's strategic objectives.
  • Implement improvements to the submission process to increase efficiency and success rates.
  • Liaise with BD Managers, the Communications Team, and Brand Content Writers to communicate best practices, ensure submissions align with firm branding and messaging and effectively represent the firm's strengths.
  • Identify new awards and directories that may enhance firm and practice brand development and evaluate and make recommendations regarding the firm's participation in each submission and recognition.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Awards and Directories on regular communications with practice group leaders to identify their objectives and gain their input and approval on all related awards.
  • Liaise with lawyers, BD Managers, and other internal departments to gather necessary information, perform research, conduct interviews, and otherwise collect all relevant data to build submissions.
  • Ensure all submissions are accurate, compelling, and aligned with award criteria or directory guidelines.
  • Write and edit submissions that strategically highlight our firm's capabilities and achievements.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with award and directories researchers, editors, and journalists to bolster our firm's visibility and reputation. Stay informed about changes in award criteria, submission deadlines, and industry trends.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of award outcomes to identify successful tactics and areas for improvement.
  • Report award results to firm leadership, internal stakeholders, and the Client Development team.
  • Work closely with the Communications team to promote award wins through various marketing channels to maximize impact.
  • Responsible for the firm's awards and recognitions database, ensuring all information about decisions concerning awards participation, submissions, and outcomes are accurately recorded to create a historical record used to aid in future participation of awards.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required marketing, journalism, communications focus preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in law firm marketing, with a proven ability to create effective awards and directory submissions.
  • Experience working with legal awards and directories, in particular Chambers and Legal 500, and media.
  • A strategic thinker with a strong understanding of the challenges involved in developing effective awards submissions across multiple business units and geographies.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality, accurate public communications.
  • Capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • A team player who is also capable of collaborating across a range of specialized experts.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Foundation a plus.


This position will require physical presence in Proskauer's offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated compensation for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
