Position Summary:
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Payroll Analyst with experience in the construction industry to manage payroll processing for field and office employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction payroll practices, including union/non-union compliance, prevailing wage regulations, and multi-state payroll requirements. The Payroll Analyst will report to the Payroll Manager at our San Francisco Office.

Position Summary:
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Payroll Analyst with experience in the construction industry to manage payroll processing for field and office employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction payroll practices, including union/non-union compliance, prevailing wage regulations, and multi-state payroll requirements. The Payroll Analyst will report to the Payroll Manager at our San Francisco Office.
Responsibilities Include:
- Process weekly/bi-weekly payroll for field and office staff in compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Collect, review, and verify timesheets, job codes, and cost allocations.
- Ensure proper wage calculations, including overtime, fringe benefits, per diems, and deductions.
- Coordinate with HR to maintain employee payroll records, tax documents, and direct deposit information.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, project managers, and government agencies.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information.
- Assist with audits and prepare supporting documentation as needed.
- Track and manage wage garnishments, child support orders, and other deductions.
- Support union payroll processing and reporting, including dues and benefits remittance (if applicable).
- Maintain accurate employee records including address changes, tax withholdings, direct deposit information, and benefit elections.
- Process and update 401(k) contributions and commuter benefit selections.
- Monitor and audit employee leave balances and usage.
- Process leave accruals and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Support employees with state disability insurance (SDI) and paid family leave (PFL) claims.
- Act as a liaison with the Employment Development Department (EDD) for claims processing.
- Process travel reimbursements and phone allowances according to company policy.
- Support year-end processing including W-2 preparation and distribution.
- Assist with ACA compliance through 1095 form preparation and filing.
- Regular communication with employees and managers to manage timesheet or other issues that arise.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience with payroll software - ideally Viewpoint Vista.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
- Excellent communication and time-management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of certified payroll reporting, prevailing wage laws, and job costing.
- Familiar with union payroll processing and collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience with multi-state payroll and tax filings.
- Understanding of construction accounting software and timekeeping systems.
- Knowledge of ACA compliance and employee benefit tracking.
- College Degree and/or Certification in Accounting.
- Experience with Construction Accounting.
- Experience with Viewpoint Vista software.

- Repetitively use hand motions for keyboard use and physical use of vision to read computer monitors and paper documents.
- Regularly use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, phone, printer, etc.)
- See with close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and have the ability to adjust focus.
- Sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time working on a computer.
- Talk and hear at normal levels. The noise level in the office work environment is usually low to moderate.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.

- Full-time direct-hire position located in downtown San Francisco. This role is hybrid, with three days in the office.
