What you will be doing
We are seeking a talented and motivated Real Estate Market Research Manager to join our Real Estate team and contribute to decision support related to the management and expansion of the Albertsons Real Estate Portfolio. This position will utilize in-depth market research and comprehensive location analysis of retail site data to develop accurate sales projections and provide strategic recommendations for optimizing supermarket site selection across diverse scenarios and store formats. Plays a pivotal role in market planning, leveraging insights to support strategic decision-making and drive new business development opportunities for the company.
The position resides within the Real Estate Operations and Analytics team, which helps support and maintain the Real Estate portfolio. The Real Estate analytics team is responsible for decision support for over $1B of capital projects each year with a focus on driving sound decision making around store lease decisions, new stores, closures, remodels, as well as key organizational reporting for our Real Estate, Store and Senior Leadership teams.
The position will be based in Boise, Idaho, or one of our main regional offices (Fullerton, CA, Pleasanton CA, Denver, CO, Phoenix AZ, Dallas, TX, Bellevue, WA, Chicago IL).
Key Responsibilities
The salary range is $95,400 to $123,900 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide decision support and insights that enables the development and execution of the company's real estate strategy, prioritizing growth, through data driven analytics and insights presented in hyper focused interactive engagements with our Core Retail and Real Estate leadership team.
- Prepare sales forecasting for all Core Retail transactions, including, new stores, mergers and acquisitions, relocations, remodels, renewals, initiatives, store closures and competitive events.
- Identifies market gaps and provides recommendations to fill these gaps that leverage our key retail growth strategies as defined by senior leadership.
- Interprets results and develops recommendations from research and data analysis to build relevant stories and insights for supported functional areas' leadership through data visualization, written and oral presentations.
- Maintains competitive tracking, reconnaissance, analysis and reporting, and provides competitive insights and trends.
- Maintains and enhances our company's data driven custom market, submarket, node and store trade area definitions to drive effective strategic and tactical decision making.
- Supports development of all systems and tools related to market research, geospatial analysis, competitive tracking and insights, sales forecasting, and reporting, with an emphasis on increased standardization, automation and enhancement of existing solutions and processes to enable maximum potential from our teams.
- Implements new analytical approaches and methodologies to business requests that provides fresh insight in the interpretation of results
- Continually evaluate existing data and analytics framework to find potential opportunities to pivot and make recommendations to enhance the framework to account for changes in our company's enterprise data model and the company's strategic priorities.
- Active participation in key stakeholder meetings, specifically when conversations are focused on key accountabilities as noted.
- Conduct in market visits to gain on the ground knowledge to support decision making (25%-50% of time)

Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor's degree in business, geography, real estate, market research, economics, or a related field is often required. Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA or master's in real estate) can be advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, ArcGIS Pro, Business Analyst, Alteryx or statistical software).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of retail site selection, market planning, and consumer behavior in the grocery sector.
Experience
- Industry Experience: 5-7 years of experience in market research, real estate analysis, or a related field, preferably within the grocery or retail industry.
- Analytical Expertise: Proven track record of conducting location analysis, sales forecasting, and competitive market assessments.
