Position Title:
Director of Nurse Marketing and Communications-HSO Marketing-Mount Sinai Hospital-Full Time-Days
Position Summary:
Reporting to the AVP, Service Line Marketing, Ambulatory and Physician Marketing, Hospital Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Director will be responsible for developing and executing internal and external integrated marketing and communications programs on behalf of the Department of Nursing and the Chief Nursing Executive Officer. The Marketing Director will work in partnership with the Nursing leadership team and central Marketing and Communications Division, in developing and executing programs and campaigns to advance goals, engage critical internal and external target audiences and advance the mission of the department.
Responsibilities
Acquire an understanding of the departmental needs of the Nursing community and develop marketing and communications programs and campaigns to meet departmental goals and objectives. Provide strategic direction, guidance, creative direction, and hands-on support to department and staff in the execution of various programs and initiatives.
Establish communications objectives and strategies to engage external and internal audiences that build and manage brand reputation of MSHS and the Nursing Organization. Implement specific strategies that have a direct positive impact on issues that matter to the nursing community.
- Develop strong relationships with system and site Nursing leadership and with the Mount Sinai marketing and communications team across all functional areas.
- Provide communications counsel and insights on positioning and messaging that will help build greater awareness, understanding, and support for the Health System's strategic goals and priorities related to Nursing.
- Collaborate effectively with writers, art directors, designers, and others to create compelling content across various teams, including approvals, as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with the Hospital Marketing and Nursing teams to ensure that internal communications strategies cascade and get executed at the Hospital level.
- Provide communications and training support for hospital nursing leaders as needed.
- Support coordination and project planning/management for major internal campaigns, such as, by way of example, patient experience, patient safety, nurse recruiting and staffing, and nurse recognition;
Coordinate with MSHS Internal Communications and lend support as needed to system wide communications relative to the Nursing community.
Support community outreach events and/or sponsorship opportunities pertaining to the Nursing Department.
Proactively identify new communications opportunities to advance the short and long-term goals of the Nursing Department.
Maintain expense budgets related to marketing and communications activities.
Monitors expenses related to external vendors and ensures that projects fall within budget parameters. Utilize approved MS vendors. When 3rd party vendors involved, assist in researching quotes.
Build and maintain relationships across the department and the MSHS in support for integrated communications. Recommend partnerships and work collaboratively with the central marketing and communications team.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education Requirement:
BA/BS Degree is required, with a preference for a major in communications, marketing, or public affairs. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience Requirement:
5-year minimum (with 8 years preferred) of integrated marketing and communications experience including high degree of proficiency in digital communications. Business experience, and client management, preferable in healthcare.
Proven track record in the development of strategic multi-faceted marketing communications plans and converting them into tactical programs.
Proven success in measuring ROI of programs against institutional objectives and long-term strategies.
Excellent information-gathering, writing, and editing skills.
Must be a collaborative, strong communicator and listener with sensitivity to multiple styles and perspectives; able to build and foster strong relationships with diverse constituencies.
Ability to build and manage a team over time if the business requires it; skilled in leading, motivating and developing a team of professionals.
Ability to engage with senior leaders, physicians and other Hospital and System staff and leadership to direct and indirect team members to achieve objectives.
Proactive and results oriented with the ability to translate and move plans into action.

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,000.00 - $208,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
