Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience / training
  • Two years work experience as an Operating Room Assistant or similar position in a Pre-Op or PACU setting.
  • Skills to supervise a team and to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal communication and relationships. Ability to set priorities, organize work independently. Ability to handle or cope under stressful situations. Ability to prioritize own duties. Knowledge of conducting Quality Assurance monitors pertinent to assigned areas. Knowledge of emergent and routinely used equipment. Knowledge of handling delicate equipment (Doppler, Scanner, portable 02 Saturation Monitor, CPAP Monitors). Knowledge of handling infectious waste and hazardous materials.

Department Overview

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) has space for 63 beds or gurneys. The PACU is focused on the recovery of patients from anesthetic agents, airway management, pain control, sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring for post-surgical adult and pediatric patients as well as patients from other units such as radiology, GI lab, pulmonary lab, cardiac catheterization lab, and labor and delivery. The PACU may function as an overflow ICU when the ICUs are at capacity. There are two PACUs; Pavilion PACU (63 beds) and CSC PACU (18 beds).
