In 2012, we received FDA approval of Korlym (mifepristone), the first approved treatment for hypercortisolism (Cushing's syndrome).
Today, our team and collaborators continue to unlock the possibilities of cortisol modulation as a way to treat serious diseases. With more than 30 ongoing studies across a wide range of disease areas, including endocrinology, oncology, metabolism, and neurology, we remain dedicated to advancing the possibilities of cortisol modulation.
What began as a ripple of scientific truth is now poised to unleash a sea change of discovery representing a fundamental shift in the way we understand and treat disease.
Reporting to the VP, Intellectual Property, the Intellectual Property Paralegal supports a broad scope of companywide intellectual property matters. This position will be a trusted advisor to the Company by providing support on all facets of intellectual property matters with a focus on the Company's small molecule patent portfolio. This position will also have responsibilities in areas that include trademarks, copyrights, IP litigation and contracts.
The IP Paralegal position will be onsite in Redwood City, CA, at least 3 days per week.

The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this headquarters-based position is $145,600 - $171,300; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on legitimate considerations, including geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education.

Preferred Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage Information Disclosure Statements, including the ability to comprehensively review art cited across large family/portfolios
- Prepare and file US Patent correspondence, transmittal documents, and formality documents (Declarations and Assignments)
- Correspond with foreign associates and outside counsel relating to all patent prosecution matters
- Generate docket reports and coordinate with attorneys, colleagues, foreign associates and outside counsel to ensure all deadlines are met
- Create, organize and maintain electronic US and foreign patent files
- Manage the Company's trademark portfolio and copyright matters
- Track and manage IP legal and maintenance fees
- Keep abreast on rule changes in patent and trademark prosecution practices both in the U.S. and globally
- Coordinate paper and eFiling of patent applications and patent prosecution documents
- Maintain tracking/docketing system for patents and trademarks
Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Technical Proficiencies:
- Experience with pharmaceutical patent prosecution, including advanced knowledge of Patent and Trademark (PTO) rules and procedures
- Strong knowledge of and ability to keep abreast of 37 C.F.R. rules and MPEP
- Experience using the USPTO electronic filing system as well as a patent docketing system is required
- Strong skills in organization, attention to detail, and analytical abilities
- Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, efficiently, and collaboratively in accordance with deadlines
- Knowledge in managing trademarks, copyrights and contracts
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 7+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience handling patent filing and docketing matters with experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies preferred
- Bachelor's degree
- Paralegal certification and California notary certification is a plus
