About the Role

This claims specialist role independently handles financial lines claims, including directors and officers (D&O) liability claims, cyber claims, and casualty claims while also working closely with the underwriting and products teams. This role must also be able to provide exceptional service to external clients and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Actively managing a portfolio of D&O liability claims (including employment practices claims), with responsibility for end-to-end adjudication processes
  • Actively manage a portfolio of Casualty claims
  • Completing detailed reviews of claims-related issues, including coverage, liability and damages and, documenting the claim files appropriately.
  • Oversight of defense counsel, experts and consultants while adhering to company guidelines and budgets.
  • Compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including licensing requirements.
  • Maintaining a close working partnership with customers and brokers to achieve the most advantageous claim resolution.
  • Review, support and assist in developing policy wordings and tailored solutions for clients
  • Liaise with Actuarial, Finance and Risk Management colleagues to share information in the management of claims, clients and risks.


About the Team

Our Team works closely together while located across our Kansas City, Chicago and New York offices. We add significant value to the company through our support of underwriting teams with policy and portfolio reviews and drafting initiatives, share lessons learned and observed claims/coverage trends to improve risk assessment and the underwriting process. Our team also collaborates with various functions and teams in the acquisition of new business opportunities. We proudly promote the company's technical claims expertise and profile in the marketplace!

Our work model is working in the office together 3 days a week with flexibility to work from home the remaining two days.

About You

Our team is seeking someone with excellent verbal and written communication skills who also possesses strong interpersonal, analytical, negotiation and influencing abilities.

  • University degree or equivalent is required
  • A law degree is not required, but is a plus
  • Some experience handling Financial Lines or Professional Lines claims (including D&O, Employment, Fiduciary, Transactional Liability, E&O) and/or Casualty claims is desirable
  • Holds, or willing to acquire, adjuster licenses as needed for various jurisdictions
  • Ability and willingness to learn Financial Lines Claims products beyond D&O (e.g., Cyber, Transactional Risk and Fiduciary)


Travel required 5-10%

The estimated base salary range for this position is $84,000 to $150,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
