Be a leader in innovating and designing impactful Risk technology products for an enhanced customer experience.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking Risk Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  • Lead the design and implementation of distributed micro-services using Java, Spring Boot and AWS
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges in production environments, ensuring system reliability and performance
  • Provide guidance to a team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, helping them grow their technical skills and career paths
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and the team's work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements and business requirements


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Experience with AWS Cloud
  • 8+ years of applied experience with a focus on Java and Spring Boot.
  • Proven track record of leading teams in building and deploying distributed micro-services architectures
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, web services, and integration patterns
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Modern emerging technologies
  • Familiarity with modern full stack technologies.
  • Exposure to relational and non-relational databases such as Oracle and Redis
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like ECS or kubernetes
  • Knowledgeable on DevOps
