Job Description
This position is responsible for leading a New Product Development team in designing systems for initiatives related to food service equipment and appliances. The role primarily focuses on the mechanical design concept layout of systems with an emphasis on refrigeration and heated subsets, including the electro-mechanical interface. The individual will leverage their experience to help with early requirements definition, concept design, and taking these initial concepts to a 3D CAD design prototype phase. They will create accurate and complete 3D CAD layouts, using proper design tolerance practices. The role requires a hands-on manager capable of working firsthand in the lab and conducting factory visits as needed.

The engineering team enjoys working in an R&D environment where they are not confined to a single task for extended periods. This role is based in St. Louis, where the corporate and R&D facilities house around 90 employees. The manufacturing facility is in Sedalia, MO, with over 300 employees. The company operates three divisions/value streams: Subway kitchen equipment, commercial kitchen equipment for various fast-food chains, and serving systems for schools, churches, universities, and food halls. Standard working hours are flexible from 6/8 am to 2/4 pm, and the dress code is business casual. You will work with 20-30 other engineers/designers with varying levels of experience, from 3 to 25 years of tenure.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $135000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Responsibilities
- Lead a team in the creation of prototype drawing packages and supervise the assembly with support from laboratory technicians.
- Oversee the testing phase, including writing and implementing test plans, reviewing data, and making recommendations to achieve overall system performance specifications.
- Complete all ERP, final design package, Engineering Change Order releases, and end-of-line testing updates to support manufacturing new production launches.
- Support and follow the Design Development Process (DDS) and provide technical advisory, coaching, and management.

- Experience supervising and leading teams of engineers/designers in an R&D setting
- Experience with food grade equipment or medical device industry

- Knowledge of electrical and process improvement
