The anticipated salary range for this role is between $113,000.00 and $170,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

The Vice President will provide senior bankers with marketing support in origination, execution, and monitoring of lender finance transactions. This role will also construct terms and conditions and participate in term sheet negotiation.

Role Description

Role Objectives
- Conduct relevant analyses to support senior bankers
- Identify structure risk of proposed transactions
- Participate in term sheet negotiation
- Coordinate information flow among counter-party asset managers. Origination and Execution Group, credit department, and other departments to ensure successful execution of transactions
- Evaluate counter-party risk, propose strategy on portfolio ramping and monitoring, and design finance structure for proposed lender finance opportunities
- Initiate and complete application process of transactions
- Support transaction execution including legal document reviews
- Coordinate due diligence and approval processes with relevant departments
- Run Know Your Customer processes to ensure compliance with internal and external policies
- Support the department on its initiatives to syndicate and distribute originations
- Develop marketing material and pitch books
Qualifications and Skills
- 5-7 years of specialized experience
- Experience in loan securitization with strong structuring and modeling skills
- Understanding of lender finance market and trend of other alternative investment markets such as CLOs, SMAs, commingle funds and BDCs
- Deep understanding of regulatory environment and its impact on leveraged loans and other securities
- Familiar with middle market loan and BSL structure
- Experience in term sheet structuring and negotiation, documentation review and execution
- Familiarity with middle market leverage loans and BSL market trends A-plus
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite is required; working knowledge of Bloomberg and Capital IQ is preferred
- CPA, CFA preferred
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
