Your Career

As a Senior Staff Network Engineer, NetSec at Palo Alto Networks, you'll play a critical role in shaping the security posture of our global network infrastructure. Based at our Santa Clara headquarters, this position is ideal for a highly experienced and innovative engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys building secure, scalable, and reliable network solutions.

You'll collaborate with a team of expert engineers to design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade security controls that protect our internal infrastructure and support business growth. This role requires a forward-thinking mindset, deep technical expertise, and a passion for automation and continuous improvement. Your Impact
  • Design, implement, and maintain advanced network security architectures across global infrastructure
  • Develop and enforce enterprise-wide security policies, including segmentation, access control, and traffic inspection
  • Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and IT teams to integrate security into all layers of network design
  • Identify vulnerabilities and lead remediation efforts across on-prem and cloud environments
  • Leverage Palo Alto Networks products and third-party platforms to enhance network visibility and protection
  • Automate network security operations using scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code best practices
  • Lead incident response efforts for network security events and ensure timely stakeholder communication
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to building a culture of security-first thinking


Qualifications

Your Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise networking and network security engineering
  • Deep expertise in firewall technologies, VPN, IDS/IPS, NAC, and microsegmentation
  • Strong background with Palo Alto Networks products and platforms is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with security automation and infrastructure-as-code frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of routing, switching, and TCP/IP protocols; experience with Arista or Juniper is a plus
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture principles and cloud security models
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex security issues
  • Clear communication and leadership skills with a track record of cross-functional collaboration

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $0 - $0/YR.
