Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer

Canvas is seeking a Mid- to Senior-Level Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) engineer for a position located at Hill Air Force Base (HAFB), as part of the 719th Test Squadron under the 804th Test Group affiliated with Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), and will provide oversight of and conduct Sentinel ICBM Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) activities. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

Duties:

• Evaluate requirements for USAF Major System Acquisition.
• Must be able to correlate and validate CFD simulation results against test data.
• Formally document results in the form of technical reports and presentations and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Guide CTF Verification & Validation efforts during DT&E to support operational test agency accreditation of system models.
• Independently simulate representative fluid flows of the Sentinel GBSD missile across all stages of flight mission.
• Lead and mentor junior team members as assigned.
• Support periodic reviews of integrated test results and test plan status. Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) as appropriate.
• Provide technical support and advocate integrated approaches of engineering efforts and support of test activities for which existing guidelines may not be available or applicable.
• Serve as a test team participant in the development of documents such as the Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), System Test Plan (STP), Developmental Test (DT) Report, recommendation for IOT&E readiness, and other technical documents.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering. *Experience may be substituted for education with customer approval.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• Must have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance at the required level. An active and transferrable DoD security clearance with active investigation is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated industry experience with heat transfer analysis.
• Demonstrated industry experience with fluid flow analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software.
• Experience with any of the following software packages: ANSYS Fluent, Thermal Desktop, STAR-CCM+, Siemens NX, MATLAB, Abaqus CAE, and Python scripting.
• Thermal/structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
• Basic or intermediate skills using CAD software packages.
• Familiarity with maintainability engineering principles, including maintenance planning, scheduling, and optimization.
• Skillful in extracting meaningful insights from data, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions.
• Understanding of system design, development, and testing principles, including system architecture, system integration, and system validation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, development, testing, and maintenance teams.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
• Focused adherence to safety and security requirements.
• Familiarity with test & evaluation planning and processes consistent with DoD acquisition directives and policies.
• Familiarity with ICBM weapon systems and related subsystems/equipment, their projected use in the military, and methods of testing.

Security Clearance:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance.

Desired Experience:

• Master's degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering is desired.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with CFD engineering related to ICBMs is preferred.
