As part of the Total Rewards team within Human Resources, the Benefits Specialist is critical in supporting and enhancing EchoStar's employee experience by administering and managing comprehensive benefits programs. This role works closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of benefits services, including health, wellness, financial, and leave programs. The Benefits Specialist is a key resource for employees, providing guidance, resolving escalated issues, and supporting initiatives such as Open Enrollment and wellness programs that contribute to a culture of care and support.

As part of the Total Rewards team within Human Resources, the Benefits Specialist is critical in supporting and enhancing EchoStar's employee experience by administering and managing comprehensive benefits programs. This role works closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of benefits services, including health, wellness, financial, and leave programs. The Benefits Specialist is a key resource for employees, providing guidance, resolving escalated issues, and supporting initiatives such as Open Enrollment and wellness programs that contribute to a culture of care and support.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Act as escalated contact to resolve issues related to medical, dental, vision, FSAs, EAP, COBRA, 401(k) as well as HSA, life, accident, disability, and leaves of absence.
- Administer employee benefit programs in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and established company policies.
- Work with internal and external partners and carriers to research and resolve administrative, operational or other benefits related issues in a timely manner.
- Consistently deliver professional, courteous, accurate, and timely responses to internal employees and external partners.
- Prepare and maintain electronic employee files, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Handle confidential information with integrity.
- Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs.
- Conduct benefits orientations during New Hire Orientation.
- Assist with annual Open Enrollment process, from system testing to informational meetings and individual enrollment support.
- Organize wellness initiatives such as the annual health fair and wellness activities.
- Professionally and positively represent the Company, the Human Resources department, and the Benefits Office.
- Research and resolve issues in collaboration with IT, HRIS and Payroll teams regarding benefits integrations
- Collaborate with internal communications teams to draft, review, and secure approvals for employee communications related to benefits programs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for overseeing the development, maintenance, and content updates of the employee benefits website to ensure accurate and timely information is available to all employees.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in benefits, related benefits administration, or relevant work experience
Preferred Requirements:
- Proficient in G-suite or Microsoft applications
- Experience working in HR database programs, preferably Workday or Oracle
- Knowledge of Company policies/procedures & benefit package or the ability & willingness to learn
- Effective communication skills, oral & written
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize workload with minimal supervision and consistently meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
- Ability to multitask, be a team player, and work in a fast-paced environment
