Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer (T03 level). This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You'll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will provide horizontal integration support for the Aerospace Vehicle equipment (AVE) Systems Engineering and Integration (SEI) Organization. They will work across AVE SEI's teams who specialize in requirements, interfaces, architecture, mechanical/electrical design integration, and many specialties of modeling, simulation, and analysis to aid in the management Major Program Event campaigns with a focus on Critical Design Review (CDR) and first flight preparation.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Organize and drive timely completion of reviews
  • Facilitate action item closure between AVE elements and the customer
  • Support to incremental CDR execution eventually culminating in an AVE CDR (includes execution of CDR, readiness assessment)
  • Support flight design reviews
  • Work with teammates across a wide variety of disciplines and get intimately familiar with all aspects of the Missile
  • Provide product development surge support to AVE SEI org as needed


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related experience; 3 years experience with a Master of Science degree; 1 year experience with a PhD
  • Basic working knowledge of Systems Engineering
  • Willingness to learn and work across multiple IPTs through multiple engineering disciplines
  • Willingness to spend significant portion of workday in meetings and coordination with multiple engineering disciplines


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in core systems engineering and model-based concepts and tools (e.g. DOORS and Cameo EA)
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical design and Siemens tool suite
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, or analysis especial of flight vehicles
  • Missile design and development experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and Systems Thinking mindset
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work self-sufficiently and as part of an integrated product team (IPT)
  • Excellent decision making and communication (written and oral) skills

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
