Position Overview
The Manager of Financial Accounting will oversee the financial accounting team, ensuring compliance with GAAP and the integrity of financial reporting. This role will be responsible for month-end close processes, financial analysis, and the implementation of accounting processes that align with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP and FERC regulations.
- Manage the general ledger and review journal entries for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with external and internal auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
- Implement and enhance accounting processes and systems to improve efficiency and compliance with SOX regulations.
- Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic initiatives within the company.
- Supervise and mentor the financial accounting team, fostering professional development and ensuring high performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in financial accounting, with a focus on GAAP and FERC accounting.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and internal controls under SOX.
- Experience with accounting systems and process implementation.
- Proven track record in financial analysis and preparing financial statements.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
