JOB SUMMARY

The Exploration Supervisor is responsible for overseeing exploration activities including but not limited to drilling and equipment maintenance. This position will analyze acquired material to determine mining feasibility and manage employees on the exploration team which includes delegating work, providing training and development, and monitoring performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manage all internal and external exploration projects, ensuring that everything runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently
  • Oversee Exploration employees, equipment and equipment selection, and tooling
  • Promote a strong safety culture by implementing and enforcing health, safety, and environmental regulations, making sure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day
  • Provide technical advice on the suitability of proposed drilling methods to achieve project objectives
  • Collaborate in the search for new properties to explore for mining by speaking with property owners and scheduling drilling
  • Build positive relationships with regulatory authorities, landowners, and local communities
  • Prepare clear and detailed reports on project progress and exploration findings, and continuously look for ways to improve processes and practices
  • Analyze and interpret exploration data, validate results, and create executive summary reports of analysis
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to communicate technical information effectively and ensure project alignment
  • Liaison with Operations personnel to advise on why and where to mine
  • Participate in contractor safety meetings and incident investigations
  • Provide direction to drilling and exploration contractors
  • Oversee required maintenance on exploration equipment
  • Participate in managing GIS software by updating the new exploration data
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of work in the field of mining or Bachelor's degree in Engineering and some experience in the field of mining required
  • Contract management experience preferred
  • AutoCAD experience preferred


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to learn and understand GIS software
  • Knowledge of exploration techniques, drilling, geological mapping, and road construction
  • A deep commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management and clients
  • Ability to manipulate and understand complex Excel spreadsheets
  • Proficiency in modeling software and exploration data analysis tools
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule
  • Ability to optimize exploration efforts using good problem-solving skills
  • Good observation skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work without direct supervision
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work near, around, or on light or heavy equipment
  • Ability to lead and motivate Exploration team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Ability to travel to various field locations for work purposes
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift objects repeatedly of various dimensions and up to 100 lbs. of weight
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
  • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
  • Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
