Pay Range: $53.73 - $84.63 per hour

Summary:
The Pharmacy Coordinator- Sterile Preparation assists in the day-to-day sterile medication preparation in all operational areas of the inpatient Department of Pharmacy. This individual will partner with pharmacist and technician teams to standardize and improve sterile medication policies and procedures. Changes will be in alignment with sterile medication regulatory requirements and best practices. This individual will act as a mentor and will work and/or shadow both in the central pharmacy and pharmacy satellites based on overall departmental needs. This position will include weekends, holidays and a variety of shifts based on departmental needs and project implementations. .This individual exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:
Illinois pharmacist license or eligible
Doctor of pharmacy degree
At least 1 year of experience staffing in a position with a sterile preparation focus
Successfully complete the ASHP Compounded Sterile Preparations Certificate for Pharmacists within the first year of assuming position
Ability to critically think and apply regulatory standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility with work schedule

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Board Certification in Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy within the two years of assuming position
Experience in project work, oversight and implementation as it relates to sterile preparation
Experience standardizing practice across multiple locations
Proficiency with EPIC including EPIC Dispense Prep

Responsibilities:
Perform duties of a Clinical-Operations Pharmacist including approximately seventy percent off-line project and training work and thirty percent pharmacists staffing.
Complete Rush IV training and maintain documented competency in glove fingertip testing, media fill testing and cleaning.
Assist in scheduling and completing of IV regulatory competencies for the department.
Assist in scheduling and completing IV training for the department
Serve as a leader on sterile preparation operational projects.
Work with clinical pharmacists to implement operational aspects of new parenteral product formulary additions or non-formulary parenteral needs.
Initiate and participate in quality initiatives and workflow improvements associated with sterile preparation
Serve as a point person for clarification of operational policies and procedures for sterile medication preparation
Assist in vetting of new inventory including medications, supplies and garb associated with parenteral products.
Assist in managing operational aspects of medications, supplies and garb associated with parenteral products
Maintain knowledge of regulations associated with sterile preparation including but not USP797, USP800, Illinois State Laws and The Joint Commission.
Serve as the point person for sterile preparation regulatory oversight when the Pharmacy Operations Supervisor - Sterile Preparation is not available.
