Position Summary:
The Optical Transport Engineer will provide technical support and advanced knowledge as it pertains to design, configuration, prioritization, implementation, and documentation of the Everstream Transport Network.This position will be involved with the installation, configuration, upgrading and troubleshooting of DWDM, CWDM, TDM, SONET, Layer 1 and Layer 2 network Elements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, turn-up and testing of new network elements to support the Everstream backbone.
- Resolving trouble issues within the network.
- Perform Moves, Adds, Changes, and Deletions (MACD) on the Everstream Backbone network
- Deep technical knowledge of DWDM, TDM, SONET, Layer 1, and Layer 2 technologies.
- Provide a high level of technical problem resolution to assist in determining problem causes and resolutions, according to the best practices within the Everstream network process and procedures.
- Develop and maintain quality standards and operational best practices.
- Design and deploy solutions for the core IP network to ensure scale, cost efficiency, and high availability (99.999%)
Requirements:
- 2-7 years of direct hands-on experience working within a network infrastructure team including DWDM, CWDM, SONET, Ethernet Layer 1, and Ethernet Layer 2.
- 2-7 years of experience with carrier grade networks.
- Knowledge of fiber optics and optical systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to integrate disparaged systems into a single operating entity.
- Ability to scope and specify technical solutions to satisfy internal and external requirements.
- Ability to work between teams and departments to meet the company goals.
- Understanding how to design and implement multiple transport systems
