Neurology Inpatient Advanced Practice Provider
(Specialist - Non-Tenure Track)
The Department of Neurology, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio, is seeking an advanced practice provider (physician assistant or nurse practitioner) with excellent clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of the inpatient team at University Hospital, for a full-time faculty position as Specialist (Non-Tenure Track). As an integral member of the inpatient neurology team, the advanced practice provider will provide specialty medical care in collaboration with licensed physicians.
Responsibilities include evaluating patients, obtaining their history, performing physical assessments, participating in daily rounds, distinguishing between normal and abnormal findings, and carrying out orders for treatments and diagnostic/therapeutic procedures. Educational requirements for Nurse Practitioners include a Master's in Nursing (a Doctorate of Nursing Practice is preferred) and certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Physician Assistant candidates must have a bachelor's degree (a Master's degree is preferred), and completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program is required. All candidates must have a current Texas license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant, applicable board certification, and DEA certification.
