Position Overview:
As a Project Controls Engineer, you will manage complex plant-wide manufacturing schedules for advanced rail vehicle projects. Your key responsibilities include developing, monitoring, and updating the plant master schedule, ensuring team alignment, and driving specific departments and projects to meet deadlines. You will also create recovery and mitigation plans, and be involved in capacity planning, process improvements, lean manufacturing, design engineering, supply chain management, forecasting, and bid preparation. Collaboration with various stakeholders is essential to ensure effective project planning and control.

The base salary range for this position in Lexington, NC is $80,000 - $93,800. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.

Position Overview:
As a Project Controls Engineer, you will manage complex plant-wide manufacturing schedules for advanced rail vehicle projects. Your key responsibilities include developing, monitoring, and updating the plant master schedule, ensuring team alignment, and driving specific departments and projects to meet deadlines. You will also create recovery and mitigation plans, and be involved in capacity planning, process improvements, lean manufacturing, design engineering, supply chain management, forecasting, and bid preparation. Collaboration with various stakeholders is essential to ensure effective project planning and control.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to reflect changes in scope, timelines, and resource allocation using project management software (e.g., Primavera P6).
- Solicit daily/weekly progress by developing and nurturing relationships with business stakeholders and adapting communication strategies to acquire timely information.
- Identify and assess risks and conflicts that may impact schedules and develop mitigation plans.
- Identify resource allocation optimization opportunities to meet customer expectations, deadlines, and internal financial goals.
- Develop reports and dashboards to monitor factory schedule performance and labor allocation against baselines.
- Analyze key project data including critical path schedules, milestone planning, resource utilization, labor reports, and costs.
- Work effectively on multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Act as a subject matter expert, driving the team to overcome roadblocks or delays through various methods such as industry-related knowledge, innovative shortcuts, or alternative strategies based on internal or external business observations.
To thrive in this role, you have:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in technical field.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in project scheduling and control.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a diverse work force (Factory floor worker to executive management).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
We would be impressed if you had:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar with an interest in Project Management/Project Controls.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Understanding of manufacturing/operations processes.
- Knowledge/Understanding of ERP/MRP (Preferably SAP)
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools and methodologies
- Experience in fostering strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Understanding of / experience in manufacturing industry is a plus.
