MBAPC is seeking an Executive Director who will capitalize on the Association's current success to grow the organization's membership, programs, and events. The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the Association and is tasked with planning, organizing, directing, and measuring staff, programs, and activities to ensure the Association's Strategic Plan goals and objectives are met.

Responsibilities
Serves as Chief Executive Officer. Informs the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Officers on the conditions and operations of the association.
Reports to the Board of Directors and receives day-to-day direction as needed from the President within established board policy; works closely with other members of the Board of Directors and/or Executive Committee, Committee and Council chairs, and other members; requests assistance from the President in resolving any conflicting demands placed on the Executive Officer or other staff members.
Attends all meetings of, and prepares minutes, agendas and reports for the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Finance & Investment Committee, Bylaws Committee, Nominations Committee, Policy & Procedures Manual Committee, Past Presidents Committee, Building Committee, Cross-Pillar Group, and any other ad hoc committee established by the Board of Directors.
In cooperation with the Finance/Investment Committee (chaired by the MBAPC Treasurer) the Executive Officer develops, recommends, and upon approval of the Board, operates within, an annual budget.
Ensures that all funds, physical assets, and other property of the Association are appropriately safeguarded and administered. Executes bylaw provision with respect to an annual CPA prepared financial statement. Maintains the assets of the association and investments in accordance with established policies. Ensures taxes are filed in a timely manner and reviews the Form 990 with the CPA.
Ensures all business licenses are up to date. Reviews insurance for the organization to make sure it is adequate and is kept current.
Executes all decisions of the Board of Directors except in cases when assignments are made specifically by the Board. Executes such contracts and commitments as may be authorized by the Board of Directors or established policies.
Plans, formulates, and recommends to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors basic policies and programs which will further the objectives of the association. Makes decisions within existing policies as they have been approved by the Board of Directors.
Safeguards confidential information as it applies to the daily functions of the association and members.
Manages the administrative operations of the association and develops specific policies, procedures, and programs to carry out. Administers all policies and coordinates all approved programs, project,s and major activities of the Association.
Recruits, hires, trains, and motivates association staff. Establishes performance standards and goals and evaluates staff. Conducts annual reviews of staff performance. This shall include the authority of hiring, supervising, terminating, training, and setting of salaries, raise,s and bonuses for all employees within the limits of the association's budget as approved by the Board of Directors. Ensures all hiring documents are updated in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
Directs and coordinates all approved programs, projects, and major activities of staff.
Provides liaison and staff support to MBAPC Committees and Councils to enable them to perform their assigned functions.
Promotes the interest and active participation of members in the association's activities.
Maintains effective relationships with public and private organizations to ensure the interests of the association are realized. Personally involved in community and professional organizations, task forces, and other groups, ensuring that the Association's mission and goals are stated clearly, consistently, and in a timely manner.
Plans, coordinates, and conducts a public relations program to enhance public acceptance of the industry. Maintains effective working relationships with the news media, elected and administrative government officials, and business-related organizations. Serves as the primary contact for media inquiries.
Oversees the Government Affairs program. Works with the MBA Pierce Government Affairs staff to develop and coordinate legislative, regulatory, and political efforts and maintains relationships with government officials and agencies impacting the industry. Works with city, county, and other governmental agencies to promote and implement Association policies and strategies on planning practices, land use controls, environmental regulations, and other building industry related issues.
Directs Communications Manager activities in all communications to the membership. Serves as Executive Editor of official publications (the Dimensions, the MBAPC Weekly Update, www.masterbuilderspierce.com, etc.).
Provides oversight in staff efforts to create education programs to advance the professional skills of the membership, operating within budget and program objectives. Directs staff efforts in the following education program efforts:
Serves on the Board of Trustees for MBAPC's 501(c)3, Building Opportunities for Learning the Trades
Coordinating educational classes and supports instructors (including coordinating classes/registration with NAHB and BIAW and scheduling/coordinating other classes for members i.e. CPR/First Aid, Lead Paint, etc.)
Oversees plans for membership promotion and retention programs. Ensures membership reports, databases, and analytics are updated on a monthly basis.
Provides staff oversight in planning and conducting all association events.
Provides support to MBAPC staff as needed for the Awards Committee (including managing the nomination process, vote counting, award procurement, and presentation of awards at the President's Ball.)
Directs staff efforts in supporting the various MBAPC Committees/Council,s offering sponsorship opportunities (including meeting with the various committees to secure sponsorships and invoicing/processing sponsorships/payments. Updates the MBAPC sponsorship packet on an annual basis.
Acts as a liaison with NAHB and BIAW, attending all official meetings and the Association Leadership Institute as the budget allows.
Carries out such other general responsibilities as may be delegated by the Officers and Board of Directors.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
5+ years of managerial experience, business acumen, events experience, communications, and public relations skills.
Demonstrated background in successful financial management and analysis.
Experienced in public speaking and giving large group presentations.
Strong collaborative spirit to work with various organizations, companies, and interests.
Passion for educating members on the mutual benefits that MBAPC brings.
Strong communication and writing skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.)
Must be able to lift 15-20 lbs.
MBAPC conducts numerous events over the course of the year. As the lead executive, the EO is expected to attend and participate in planning and organizing these events, often outside of normal business hours, throughout the year. The EO also travels nationally to attend National Association of Homebuilders conferences and statewide to Building Industry Association of Washington meetings.
