Description of Job

The Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies in the School of Health Professions is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track assistant/associate professor to teach in our Master of Science program. This is a twelve-month position requiring 24 credits annual teaching workload, including both didactic and clinical year students; student advisement, remediation, and retention; university committee participation; and self-assessment evaluation as per ARC-PA and university standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teach didactic and clinical year students: both lectures, laboratories and small group learning
  • Provide remediation instruction to ensure student success
  • Review and update PA syllabi and curricula
  • Work collaboratively with members of the PA and university faculty/administration
  • Advise students in both didactic and clinical years
  • Participate in clinical site visits as needed
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention activities
  • Promotes the PA Program and PA profession to potential students and community
  • Participates in the review, interviewing and selection of applicants for admission to the PA Program
  • Participate in ARC-PA program assessment, data collection and analysis and preparation of self-study reports
  • Work collaboratively with members of the PA and university faculty/administration
  • Serve on Departmental, School of Health Professions and University committees


Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a NCCPA-certified physician assistant with current New York State licensure or New York State License eligibility
  • Minimum Master's degree from an accredited physician assistant program
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience as a PA
  • Teaching experience is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Be able to function both independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written skills
