What You'll Do
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, AP, AR, and payroll
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes in compliance with GAAP
- Manage and mentor a team of 15-20 accounting professionals
- Coordinate preparation of financial statements and investor reports for multiple entities
- Drive automation initiatives to streamline journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany accounting
- Oversee lease and operational accounting for a portfolio of assets
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and partnership agreements
- Assess and restructure the accounting team and function as needed to meet business needs
- Collaborate with senior leadership across finance, operations, legal, and asset management
- Work with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance and timely filings
- Implement accounting best practices and promote a culture of continuous improvement
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
- 10-15+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting leadership roles
- Expertise in GAAP, SEC compliance, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Prior experience managing accounting functions for complex, multi-entity structures
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and assess accounting teams
- Strong understanding of automation tools and accounting system optimization
- Excellent judgment and communication skills, with an ability to drive change across departments
- Familiarity with commercial real estate accounting or private equity fund structures (preferred)
Preferred Experience
- Background in real estate, investment funds, or private equity-backed organizations
- Experience with accounting software such as MRI, Yardi, or cloud-based ERP systems
- Exposure to AP automation platforms and cross-entity consolidation
- Prior experience managing audits and working closely with legal/tax advisors
