Position Summary
The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (UGA CAES) is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Assistant Dean for Extension and Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Program Leader. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Extension. The incumbent will be responsible for providing visionary leadership for Agricultural Extension programs throughout the state, developing innovative ways to better support Georgia producers, and linking agents with faculty specialists to support stakeholder needs.

Candidates with a demonstrated record of collaborative applied research/Extension/instruction/administrative programming, extramural grant success, and program development that integrates applied science and Extension are preferred.

Principal duties include Extension facility and operation supervision, budget management, leadership of statewide ANR programming, and serving as a liaison to university, regional, and federal organizations. Extension facilities under the Assistant Dean include the Ag and Environmental Services Lab in Athens, statewide UGA Weather Network, Vidalia Onion and Vegetable Research Center at Lyons, and the Blueberry Research and Demonstration Farm at Alma. Budget management includes the state ANR programming account and the state ANR program leader 4-H Foundation Account. Statewide ANR programming responsibilities include training, mentoring, and onboarding of new Extension specialists, managing the ANR Extension publications process, and working closely with ANR Program Development Coordinators (PDCs) and District Extension Directors (DEDs) in each of the four Extension districts to ensure that agent and stakeholder needs are met. This position will coordinate with the Extension Emergency Response Team and will assist in preparing disaster loss estimates for agricultural commodities when necessary. This administrative position requires frequent attendance to meetings for numerous commodity groups throughout Georgia as well as coordination of state-wide agricultural efforts and special projects. The successful candidate will work closely with representatives from the Georgia Department of Agriculture, Georgia Farm Bureau, and Georgia Agribusiness Council, state commodity commissions, and USDA-NRCS.
