Must Have Technical/Functional Skills Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in data platforms: Databricks, Snowflake, Palantir Foundry, and their advanced analytics capabilities.
Strong experience with cloud data services: Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, AWS Redshift, Glue, GCP BigQuery, and Dataproc.
Hands-on experience with data lake architectures, ELT/ETL pipelines, and real-time data processing frameworks like Apache Spark and Kafka.
Expertise in SQL, Python, and Scala for data transformation and pipeline development.
Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
Industry Knowledge:
Understanding of utility-specific data sources, protocols, and standards
Knowledge of distributed energy resources (DERs), smart grids, and IoT in utilities.
Data Governance:
Experience implementing governance frameworks, data lineage tools, and security protocols.
Certifications:
Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty, or Google Professional Data Engineer).
Relevant certifications in data platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake are a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with AI/ML frameworks for utilities (e.g., predictive maintenance, energy demand forecasting).
Familiarity with regulatory compliance in the Power & Utilities industry (e.g., NERC CIP).
Knowledge of emerging trends like energy transition, carbon reduction, and sustainability in utilities.
Understanding of modern data mesh and fabric architectures.
Experience Required 10+ years in IT, with at least 5 years in data architecture, engineering, or related roles.
5+ years of experience in the Power & Utilities industry with a deep understanding of Utility operations and data requirements
Roles & Responsibilities Data Strategy & Architecture: Design end-to-end data architectures to support analytics, machine learning, and operational needs for the Power & Utilities sector, enabling grid modernization, distributed energy management, and predictive analytics.
Platform Expertise: Leverage industry-leading data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Palantir to build modern data pipelines, lakes, and warehouses.
Cloud Data Services: Architect data solutions using cloud-native services, including Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, AWS Glue, Redshift, BigQuery, and other services on major cloud platforms.
Integration with Industry Systems: Design integration frameworks to connect with utility-specific systems such as SCADA, OMS, AMI, DERMS, and ERP systems to enable real-time and batch data ingestion.
Data Governance: Establish data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with regulations (e.g., NERC CIP, FERC).
Advanced Analytics Enablement: Enable utility companies to leverage data for advanced use cases such as grid optimization, energy forecasting, and asset performance monitoring using AI/ML frameworks.
Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders, IT teams, and engineering teams to define and implement data strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Performance Optimization: Optimize data platforms and pipelines for cost efficiency, scalability, and performance.
Documentation & Best Practices: Create comprehensive technical documentation and promote best practices for data engineering and architecture within the organization.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to translate complex technical solutions into business value for utility leaders.
Support pre-sales activities including engaging prospects, conducting discovery workshops, developing point of views/solutions/scoping, writing proposals, engaging partners, and supporting sales and marketing enablement.
Provide advisory services to existing and new customers on Data Strategy and Consulting
Must be able to communicate with CTO and CXO level audience by demonstrating expertise in managing large data modernization programs
Salary Range: $140,000-$180,000 a year
