Who are we looking for?
GHD has an immediate opportunity for a Regional Operations Manager to provide operations leadership to the US West Region. Reporting to the Regional General Manager, you will work to achieve agreed-upon KPIs, sustainability, diversification, growth and staff development objectives, closely cooperating with Business Group Leaders, Market Leaders, and Technical Leaders. Candidates outside of the region must be willing to relocate to the region if selected. GHD supports a hybrid work model.

What you will bring to the team:
Minimum 15 years of engineering consulting experience required
Previous Operations Management or Business Leader experience. with GHD preferred.

Leadership
- Collaborate with Regional General Manager, Regional Operations Manager, Regional Market Leadership, Business Group Leaders, Business Services, and other leaders within the business to develop and maintain a high-performance culture and implement GHD systems for Safety, Integrity, Teamwork, and Quality.
- As part of the West Management Team, embrace the Team of Teams approach to leading the business.
- Collaborate with regional management team and people team to elevate wellbeing of people and enhance employee experience. Maintain regional retention rate > 92%, reviewed quarterly.
- Collaborate with West Region Operations Manager to identify adaptive challenges facing the region and implement needed cultural change management.
- In collaboration with the PMO and Region Operations Manager, implement needed project management training and required project control tools to improve project performance culture.
- Lead and support personal and professional development of direct reports including BGLs.
- Assist People Team and BGLs with succession planning within Business Groups.
- Identify and develop successors for the ROM role.
Performance
- Drive performance to exceed budgeted monthly Gross Margin including continual review of forecasted annual performance and recommendations on required corrective actions.
- Monitor Business Group (BG) performance through review of regular KPI reports regarding utilization, labor revenue, variances, WIP, collections, and backlog along with developing required corrective actions.
- Manage portfolio of Business Groups assigned to deliver on monthly targeted utilization and labor effort.
- Collaborate with PMO and BGLs to implement PM best practices to maintain annual net variances no greater than 1.0% of net revenue.
- Lead growth of workshare outside the region including Chile and Manila to achieve a net 15% export for the West Region.
Governance
- Assist Regional General Manager (RGM), as needed, with governance of Winning Work and Project Delivery in accordance with the LoA.
- Support RGM and RFM with annual budgeting process.
- Manage staffing issues with BGLs and People Team.
- Identify projects that have above average risks and consequences and monitor risk management activities throughout project execution through regular check-in meetings with BGLs, Project Managers, and RPMOL.
- Facilitate and monitor the implementation of staff performance appraisal outcomes and specifically assist the RGM with performance appraisal of BGLs.
Processes
- Implement and track revenue forecasting in BST and provide regional leadership visibility on required access to future backlog.
- Support with implementation and mandated use of Fee Builder and Standard Rate Schedule across the business. Review and approve deviation requests from Standard Rate schedule, as needed.
- Support implementation of People Planner across the region.
