We're seeking a Director of Product Management to lead our Database Monitoring portfolio. This is a high-impact, strategic role suited for a product leader with a blend of business ownership mindset, deep technical knowledge of databases (traditional and NoSQL), and a proven ability to drive product success across both on-prem and cloud-native environments.
About the Role
As Director of Product Management for Database Monitoring, you will own the vision, strategy, and execution of our database observability products. You will serve as the GM of your portfolio, with full accountability for roadmap, market fit, revenue growth, and customer success.
You'll lead a team of PMs and collaborate closely with engineering, sales, customer success, and marketing to deliver best-in-class solutions for monitoring SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-managed database environments. Your strategic thinking and operational discipline will ensure we deliver high-value capabilities that meet the evolving needs of DBAs, developers, and IT leaders across industries.
What You'll Do
Define and execute the product strategy for the Database Monitoring business line across SQL, NoSQL, and cloud databases
Act as GM of the portfolio-owning market analysis, product roadmap, business performance, pricing, and competitive differentiation
Partner with sales and customer success to drive go-to-market strategies, revenue growth, and customer retention
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of product managers
Drive alignment with cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, marketing, and support
Develop deep understanding of the database market, including customer needs, ecosystem trends, and technical innovation
Engage directly with customers, analysts, and partners to gather feedback, validate strategy, and evangelize product vision
Ensure strong technical integration with SolarWinds' observability platform and seamless user experiences
What We're Looking For
10+ years of product management experience, with 3+ years in a senior leadership or GM role
Strong technical background in traditional (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) databases
Proven track record of driving product-market fit, revenue growth, and successful product launches
Experience with database performance monitoring, diagnostics, and observability tools
Strong business acumen with the ability to make data-informed decisions on product investments and prioritization
Demonstrated success leading and scaling product teams in a fast-paced SaaS or enterprise software environment
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
Passion for solving real customer problems with pragmatic, scalable solutions
Nice to Have
Experience with cloud-native database environments (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud Spanner)
Familiarity with modern observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
Background in application performance management (APM) or full-stack monitoring
MBA or equivalent experience managing full product P&L
