Job Description:
The vice provost will be responsible for the management and academic oversight of graduate and professional studies programs; the successful implementation of combined degree programs (bachelor/masters), oversight of certificate and degree programs designed for the adult learner market; the Circle of Scholars program, a lifelong learning program for senior adults, a commitment to academic and operational excellence; the ability to work imaginatively with a management team, faculty members, and administrative colleagues; and a drive to motivate others, to build, and to execute. An earned doctorate from an accredited institution is required. Experience managing academic programs in higher education, master's and doctoral programs, adult continuing education, and/or industry is essential, as is a vision for the education of adult learners and post-traditional students and an understanding of critical success factors driving innovative academic and professional programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Provost, the vice provost drives strategic and operational academic efforts to position Salve Regina as a leading provider of graduate and professional education. The vice provost must be able to:
The vice provost leads the vision, strategy, and tactical plan for graduate and professional studies and is accountable for successfully implementing those academic programs. The vice provost works closely with the respective university leaders and departments that are responsible for the financial analysis, forecasting, and achievement of revenue targets for this portfolio.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The vice provost will be responsible for managing the ongoing implementation of the strategic plan for the graduate and professional studies programs around program quality, student retention and completion, outcome management, and process development and implementation. The vice provost will support, as appropriate, the strategic elements of faculty development and excellence, and admissions and enrollment management.

- Develop and manage the external relationships related to the GPS programs (advisory board, associations, city/state, etc.)

Required Qualifications:
- Commitment to the Mercy mission of Salve Regina.
- An earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
- Strong proven leadership skills and demonstrated administrative experience in higher education and/or in a comparable role generating revenue.
- Established track record of conceiving, developing, and implementing innovative, high quality, and financially successful academic and professional development programs (on-ground, online, or hybrid) for adult learners, experience with combined degree programs, online and low residency programs.
- Knowledge of graduate and professional development trends and practices; a vision for the education of adult learners and post-traditional students, knowledge of and appreciation for their unique learning needs and intercultural competence, and a genuine commitment to their success; understanding of critical success factors that drive innovative academic and continuing education programs.
- Exceptional administrative and team-building skills, a commitment to transparency.
- Experience of working with the CFO/finance department in managing a P&L in higher education and/or industry.
- Ability to work effectively within a learning community that includes tenure-track, professional-track, and affiliate faculty members and to motivate faculty and staff.
- Experience collaborating with the marketing and enrollment management leaders and departments directly responsible for meeting program enrollment goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with online program management (OPM) providers.
- Strong project management skills.
- Previous higher education teaching experience.
- Understanding of shared governance and change management practices in a higher education environment.
- Demonstrated experience with accreditation.
- The ability to serve as the external face of graduate and professional education at Salve Regina and represent it to its stakeholder communities.
