UTHealth Houston Fetal Institute invites exceptional candidates to apply for tenure-track positions. The Institute seeks to enhance its research strengths in all areas of fetal medicine, with a particular emphasis on candidates who study fundamental biological processes within embryological, fetal, and maternal-fetal systems.
The Fetal Institute is a dynamic community of accomplished faculty, trainees, and staff with a strong clinical care, research, and education track record. The research conducted within the Institute focuses on translational sciences related to fetal diseases, aiming to explore fundamental life processes and develop innovative treatment strategies. Core research interests include fetal disease and treatment responses, surgical complications, pediatric long-term outcomes, biomarkers, and genomic and multi-omics exploration. The Institute also maintains a biorepository of 1,500 maternal-fetal dyads with biological samples, accompanied by rigorous clinical data collected from prenatal, maternal, neonatal, and pediatric outcomes. Additionally, the Institute has a robust long-term outcomes follow-up program for pregnancies that undergo fetal surgeries at the UTHealth Houston Fetal Center clinic. The Fetal Center cares for over 1,200 complicated pregnancies with fetal diseases/anomalies and performs more than 300 fetal surgeries per year.

Position Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct scientific research to investigate discoveries and advancements in fetal medicine and therapy.
- Design and implement experiments to test theories, gather data and analyze data obtained through experiments.
- Write reports, publish findings in scientific journals, and seek extramural funding.
- Collaborate with other scientists and researchers to share knowledge and resources.
- Educate the next generation of researchers.
- Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with scientific advancements in fetal therapy.
- Establish an extramurally funded research program and contribute to graduate and medical education.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. and/or M.D. with postdoctoral experience.
- Establish an extramurally funded research program and contribute to graduate and medical education.
- Proven track record of innovative research in molecular biological processes and the potential to develop an independent research laboratory is essential for Assistant Professors.
- Established and respected research program with sustained funding for applicants for Associate Professors.
