Ardmore Roderick is seeking Bridge and Structure Engineer/Inspectors to join our Infrastructure Services team located in Charlotte.This position will report directly to the area Infrastructure Group Manager. Original work assignment is as a key inspector on the consulting team selected to perform structure safety inspections for the City of Charlotte transit agency, CATS, and involves a combination of field inspections and office work. The ideal candidates must understand and have experience with APTA's Rail Transit Fixed Structures and Maintenance (APTA RT-FS-S-001-02 Rev 1) requirements. All are required to complete CATS Right-of-Way training and other necessary railroad safety training.

Salary Range: $87,360-108,160, Ardmore Roderick is providing the compensation range that the company believes it might pay and/or offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Structure Safety Inspection of light rail bridges and associated transit structures (retaining walls, culverts, ballast curbs, and parking decks), and the identification and prioritization of necessary repairs
- Review previous inspection reports, if available, for each bridge or structure to be inspected
- Review of as-built construction phase documents, if available, for each bridge or structure to be inspected
- Compile photographs and inspection documents, prepare and review technical inspection reports for final QA/QC review and submittal
- Assist with analysis and load rating of existing bridges and structural systems inspected
- Assist with preparation of final drawings, technical specifications, construction cost estimates and construction schedules for rehabilitation of existing bridges and other transportation or facilities-related structural systems
- Enforce safe operations in field
- Liaison with client field/facility staff, assist with critical condition findings
- Participate in weekly project meetings to review project status, budget, work plan, schedule, and risks
- Verify that all inspection documents are submitted and forwarded to appropriate parties upon completion
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in performing structure safety inspections on transit bridges and structures
- Strong technical knowledge in structural engineering
- Ability to work in varying field conditions (heights, in lifts, culverts, through vegetation, etc.)
- Excellent communication, organizational and team skills
- Physical ability to perform field work year-round in adverse weather conditions
- Able to carry and climb ladders with inspection gear
- Record of safe working habits
- Reliable means of transportation to work location
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Bi-Annual Bridges and Structures Inspections required by the FTA
- Professional or Structural Engineer designation
- Completion of NHI Courses "Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges" (FHWA-NHI-130055) and "Bridge Inspector Refresher Training" (FHWA-NHI-130053) within the last five years
- Able to work with minimum supervision
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
- Experience with analysis and load rating of railroad bridges
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Be safety and quality minded
- Knowledge of inspection documentation and project filing systems
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Knowledge of computer software tools, preferably eBuilder, Bluebeam and Primavera
- Ability to work independently and with other field and office staff and takes initiative to ensure that tasks and required deliverables meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate with project team staff and others both orally and in writing
- Candidates must be organized
