Summary:
The Director of Safety & Risk Management will provide strategic leadership & operational oversight for all safety, risk management, security, & loss prevention programs. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, mitigating organizational risks, & fostering a culture of proactive safety & compliance. The position collaborates across departments to reduce workplace incidents, enhance employee safety, & protect organizational assets. Travel required using company &/or personal vehicle. Must have valid driver's license, clean driving record, & proof of personal auto insurance. Must successfully pass background, credit, & driver record checks.

Education &/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in safety, risk management, loss prevention, or compliance, preferably within a retail, nonprofit, or warehouse setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, ADA, HIPAA, Workers' Compensation laws, & relevant safety & risk compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing safety audits, conducting investigations, & implementing corrective
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Risk Management & Compliance
  • Develop, implement, & oversee risk management strategies that align with the organization's mission, regulatory requirements, & operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, & federal safety
  • Identify, assess, & mitigate workplace hazards to prevent injuries &
  • Oversee all incident reports, conduct root cause analysis, & implement corrective
  • Ensure compliance with insurance requirements, loss prevention strategies, & security
  • Act as the primary liaison with external regulatory agencies, insurance providers, &
  • Safety & Security Programs:
  • Develop, execute, & monitor company-wide safety policies & initiatives to create a proactive safety culture.
  • Lead safety training & awareness programs for all employees, including new hire orientations & ongoing safety education.
  • Ensure all locations maintain compliance with workplace safety standards & maintain appropriate security measures.
  • Oversee security operations, including access control, CCTV monitoring, emergency response planning, & facility inspections.
    Loss Prevention & Incident Response:
  • Develop & enforce policies to prevent asset loss, fraud, &
  • Conduct investigations into incidents related to safety violations, property damage, or security
  • Ensure timely reporting & documentation of workplace injuries, security incidents, & risk-related concerns.
  • Work with leadership to establish & maintain a strong culture of loss prevention & accountability.
    Workers' Compensation & Claims Management:
  • Administer & oversee the organization's Workers' Compensation program, ensuring prompt & appropriate response to workplace injuries.
  • Monitor claims, work closely with insurance providers, & develop strategies to reduce claim costs.
  • Implement an Early Return-to-Work program to facilitate employee recovery & minimize lost productivity.

Maintain required OSHA documentation & reporting (e.g., OSHA 300 logs, 300A reports).
  • Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Lead & mentor a team of safety, security, & risk management
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Retail, Facilities, & other departments to align safety & risk management efforts with business operations.
  • Develop & deliver reports to executive leadership, providing key safety metrics, trends, & recommendations for continuous improvement.
