ABOUT OUR EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our 22-bed Emergency Department.
As a Level IV Trauma Center with surgical capabilities, a designated Primary Stroke Center, and a hospital expanding specialty services in obstetrics, oncology, and behavioral health, our ED is the frontline of complex, high-acuity patient care.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
This leader will lead a dynamic team of ED RNs, ED Medical Assistants, and administrative support staff, ensuring timely, evidence-based care delivery in a fast-paced, unionized environment.

The successful candidate will shape the future of emergency care in a department positioned for growth in trauma, specialty medicine, and advanced emergency services - all within a hospital on its Magnet journey.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide dynamic leadership to a team of 90+ staff, including ED nurses, medical assistants/techs, and program operations support staff
Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and teamwork through coaching, mentorship, and shared leadership
Ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care consistent with current emergency and trauma best practices
Monitor patient flow, throughput, and resource utilization to maintain efficiency in a fast-paced environment
Collaborate with physicians, hospitalists, and ancillary departments to improve care coordination and integrate new service lines, including oncology, into emergency workflows
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and accrediting bodies' regulations
Lead and participate in quality initiatives, performance improvement efforts, and root cause analyses
Work closely with trauma program leadership to uphold Level IV trauma designation standards, monitor trauma QI targets, prepare presentations, ensure staff readiness, and participate in trauma-related education and drills
Support onboarding, education, and continuous learning
Promote a culture of safety by actively identifying risks, addressing patient and staff concerns, and participating in incident investigations
Monitor department budget, and manage staffing ratios, supply usage, and equipment needs
Propose cost-effective strategies that support quality patient care
Serve as a liaison between frontline staff, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams
Ensure readiness for mass casualty incidents, disaster response, and surge capacity
REQUIREMENTS
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
4 years of Emergency Department experience
3 years of management experience in a medical setting
