Opportunity
Responsible for hotel management of Lodge Kohler including Front Desk, Valet/Bellmen, Concierge, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Spa and Sales. Drive sales and profitability, by building community relationships and partnerships, aggressive business partner programs.
Specific Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Expense Control
- Monitor on a continuing basis monthly and year-to-date actual overall hotel expense figures to ensure compliance with budget expenses as stated in financial plan.
- Correct deviations from financial plan expenses.
- Implement and monitor labor standards that balance effective staffing and the financial plan.
- Drive continuous improvement by searching for cost reductions in guest supplies, operational supplies and purchased items while maintaining quality standards.
- Research and make recommendations for all capital projects for the hotel.
- Contribute to the yearly financial planning process by setting department expense budgets that adhere to the financial profitability targets.
- Contribute to the research and preparation of occupancy and revenue goal data for financial plans on a yearly basis.
- Monitor controls of all accounting and cost management systems.
Sales Attainment and Revenue Generation
- Achieve revenue targets of financial plan, including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, partner with Group Director - Revenue.
- Partner with local chambers, convention and visitors bureau, all local venues, theaters, and museums to drive hotel room nights.
- Capitalize on The Titletown development by driving hotel programming that invites visitors into the hotel and drives hotel room nights.
- Establish compelling and entertaining programming and specials in the Restaurant to be recognized as a social destination for hotel guests and local residents.
- Weekly meetings with the Green Bay Packers to ensure all corporate group business with room nights are handed to Lodge Kohler first for room block sales.
- Create, market and sell a Business Partner Program to capture the business traveler, from local businesses.
- Protect and sell game day room nights at the premium established ADR at 100% occupancy.
- Drive leisure hotel occupancy through a marketing, communications and PR strategy, developed in collaboration with Group Marketing and Corporate Communications.
Project Planning
- On an on-going basis, identify areas and/or items which will require alteration or replacement to maintain and enhance the appearance of the hotel.
- Research and submit cost effective recommendations for projects and/or refurbishing which are financially sound and are in keeping with the preferred image of the hotel.
Food & Beverage
- Oversee all food & beverage operations in the hotel. Ensure cost of sales percentages are achieved through competitive procurement and effective kitchen food disciplines.
- Drive restaurant covers low occupancy periods and maximize hotel guest capture rates.
- Build relationships with local purveyors to design menus with local ingredients and influence.
- Understand the competitive market, ensuring all Lodge Kohler F&B outlets remain competitive, industry leading and relevant.
- Establish and implement all necessary food handling controls to maintain health safety and achieve favorable health inspections.
Guest Satisfaction
- Achieve guest satisfaction goals by monitoring and responding to guest complaints. Take corrective action when trends are identified. Seize all staff coaching opportunities.
- Regular inspections of all service areas in the hotel to monitor staff performance and consistency, as well as to maintain industry ratings and rankings.
- Respond to all appropriate social media sites, such as Trip Advisor.
Operations
- Formulate and oversee implementation of all policies and procedures of all departments and department heads
- Direct leadership of associate performance within the hotel as to accuracy and professionalism in accordance with our service model and AAA and Forbes standards.
- Drive empowerment, accountability and guest recovery for service misses. Analyze trends of service misses and implement corrective action to close gaps.
- Formulate and recommend implementation of operational and administrative polices to Housekeeping and Laundry which improve the cost control and cleanliness level of hotel rooms, public areas, or laundry product.
- Oversee the inspection processes of guestrooms and public areas as it relates to maintenance and aesthetic conditions.
- Regulatory audit rooms, public spaces and all areas for cleanliness and quality standards.
- Staffing
- Understand local market employment conditions to identify and secure talent.
- Monitor attrition and take action to reverse negative attrition trends.
- Partner with local temporary agencies, community centers and workforce development organizations.
Safety
- Drive safety practices that protect associates and guests.
- Implement corrective action when unsafe conditions are identified.
- Maximize use of safety tools and resources.
- Associate Engagement
- Accountable for associate engagement in all hotel departments.
- Create and drive recognition, rewards and engagement programs that position Lodge Kohler as the employer of choice in the competitive market.
Skills/Requirements
- Four-year college degree in hotel management or business administration. Other applicable four-year degree credentials would be considered in combination with a minimum of seven years hospitality or relevant management experience.
