Description
The hiring rage for this position is $110,000 to $154,000 annually, dependent on qualifications.

As the Town Secretary, you will play an essential role in municipal operations within an environment that prioritizes integrity, transparency, and collaboration.
Examples of Duties

LEGISLATIVE: Certifies and executes official Town documents; maintains custody of the Town Seal; administers and files
oaths of office; assists in the preparation of ordinances and resolutions as needed; accepts legal documents served to
the Town; maintains the Town's Code of Ordinances; serves as staff liaison for the Charter Review Commission.

COUNCIL: Prepares and posts Council agendas in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, attends council
meetings, and prepares minutes; provides administrative support to the Mayor and Town Council, including calendar
coordination and organizing special events; prepares ceremonial items such as proclamations, certificates, and awards;
coordinates the annual process for boards and commissions, including advertising, training, maintaining the official
roster of board appointments, and board recognition events.

RECORDS: Serves as Records Management Officer; coordinates and manages the Town's records management program,
including retention and destruction schedules, overseeing requests for public information, and ensuring that all
information is released according to state law.

ELECTIONS: Serves as Municipal Election Officer; coordinates municipal elections with Denton and Tarrant County election
administrators; prepares all statutorily required documents in conformance with the Town Charter and state law; validates
Council candidate applications; receives and files all campaign financial reports; administers Oaths of Office; receives and
processes formal petitions relating to initiatives, referendums, or recalls.

ADMINISTRATIVE: Performs other administrative duties, including preparing the departmental budget; collecting, compiling,
and analyzing data and information; preparing reports; creating, posting, updating, and maintaining department content on
the Town's website; attending meetings and other functions as required.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Responds to inquiries regarding Town matters and resolves any problems or complaints as
appropriate; assists the public with questions requiring knowledge of policies and procedures, various election issues,
community information, open records, and other functions.

OTHER: Oversees the administration of the issuance of alcohol permits in compliance with the Texas Alcohol and Beverage
Commission; oversees mail processing activities; serves as coordinator and facilitator for the Town's Citizen's Academy.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Records Management, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have or can you acquire Texas Municipal Clerks Certification within three years of hire date.
Must obtain Texas Notary Public within 6 months of hire date.
Must have a valid state issued driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Four years of progressive professional experience, two years of which are in a managerial or supervisory role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with a municipal governing body is preferred.
Desired Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Must have a working knowledge of municipal operations; election laws; Open Records Act; and modern office administrative practices and procedures.
Must have excellent organizational, leadership, managerial, and problem solving skills.
Must have excellent English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure skills; excellent communicative skills, both oral and written (bilingual skills are preferred); Dictaphone/transcription skills; shorthand skills are preferred; mathematical and statistical skills; computer operation skills to include Microsoft Office; and typing skills up to 50 net words per minute; work well under pressure and stress; meet deadlines; plan, organize, and prioritize multiple work assignments; maintain a friendly and pleasant demeanor at all times.
Must maintain confidentiality of confidential matters.
Must be able to work night meetings; work may occasionally require travel, including overnight stays, involving training.
