Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to collaborate with senior managers in identifying opportunities for manufacturing improvements, justifying projects, and implementing valuable initiatives. The ideal candidate will develop technical proficiency in the manufacture of activated carbon, support Facilities Engineering, and stay updated with chemical engineering advancements.
Responsibilities
This role requires travel to other facilities approximately 30% of the time to participate in startups for new plants. The position involves working 2-3 days per week in the office, and when traveling, this counts as 'in office' time. Remote work is possible upon return from travel.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $118000.00/yr.

Incentives/bonus plants, paid time off (starting at 3 weeks), tuition reimbursement.

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to collaborate with senior managers in identifying opportunities for manufacturing improvements, justifying projects, and implementing valuable initiatives. The ideal candidate will develop technical proficiency in the manufacture of activated carbon, support Facilities Engineering, and stay updated with chemical engineering advancements.
Responsibilities
- Communicate opportunities for manufacturing improvement with senior managers.
- Develop justifications for projects and improvement initiatives.
- Implement valuable projects in manufacturing.
- Develop technical proficiency in the manufacture of activated carbon.
- Stay current with chemical engineering advancements.
- Support Facilities Engineering in developing and executing new projects.
- Create process flow diagrams, conceptual material and energy balances, and draft P&IDs to support business cases and capital appropriation requests.
- Perform basic economic analysis of proposed projects and consider multiple alternatives.
- Work with outside engineering contractors to guide efforts, answer technical questions, and ensure technical correctness.
- Develop detailed design documents based on earlier conceptual work.
- Verify equipment and process specifications and material and energy balances produced by outside engineering firms.
- Collaborate with internal Project Managers to ensure project goals are met.
- Provide engineering support to production plants as assigned.
- Regularly travel to facilities to understand processes and engineering needs.
- Maintain good relationships with plant managers and operational and maintenance staff.
- Identify and propose improvements in process economy, efficiency, and production rates.
- Mentor junior engineers in their assignments.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional teams and intercompany events.
- Seek opportunities for efficiency, cost, and quality improvements with plant management.
- Initiate and obtain approval for cost reduction projects.
- Coordinate and participate in the design, installation, and start-up of new projects at the plant.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
- 7-10 years of experience in a plant environment
- 9+ years of manufacturing development/optimization experience preferred
- Proficiency in chemical engineering and process engineering
- Experience with capex and raw materials
- Strong economic analysis skills
- Ability to work with and guide outside engineering contractors
- Experience developing process flow diagrams, material and energy balances, and P&IDs
