Job Summary

The Sr. Additive Manufacturing (A.M.) Engineer will lead the design, optimization, and implementation of advanced additive manufacturing technologies for the production of electronic, RF/Microwave, and antenna components. As a senior member of the engineering team, this individual will take on a leadership role in overseeing complex technical projects, providing guidance to junior engineers, and ensuring the successful execution of production milestones. They will be responsible for developing innovative solutions, troubleshooting highly complex issues, and driving continuous improvements in both processes and materials. This position demands advanced technical expertise, strategic decision-making, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and subcontractors.

  • Support the design, analysis, and testing of additive manufacturing systems, components, and materials, with a focus on advanced antenna technologies and high-precision electronic/RF components.
  • Oversee and optimize the operation of state-of-the-art A.M. printers, particularly those utilizing inkjet, micro pen dispensers, and other advanced techniques for producing complex RF and electronic components.
  • Provide support to junior engineers, guiding them through troubleshooting, design improvements, and process optimization.
  • Independently manage and prioritize high-complexity tasks and programs, ensuring successful and timely delivery while meeting performance and quality standards.
  • Use advanced knowledge of electronic and RF design principles to drive improvements in additive manufacturing processes, ensuring the production of high-quality, defect-free components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, scientists, program management, and material suppliers, to develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs and business objectives.
  • Lead the creation of technical documentation, including design specifications, test results, whitepapers, proposals, and technical reports for customer presentations, acquisition of new business opportunities, and government contracts.
  • Actively engage in the identification, evaluation, and resolution of risks and challenges in the A.M. process, taking a proactive approach to troubleshooting and implementing process improvements.
  • Lead the optimization of material selection, process development, and workflow integration to enhance efficiency, reduce production time and cost, and improve overall product performance.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future direction of additive manufacturing at the company, exploring new technologies, refining processes, and staying ahead of industry trends.
  • Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and meetings with clients or vendors, sharing knowledge and fostering relationships to expand business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality control measures, and industry regulations.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of design efforts, troubleshooting procedures, test results, and customer communications, and effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience and Skills
  • 5-10 years of experience (BS) (PhD with 1-2 years exp.) in additive manufacturing, particularly in the context of electronic/RF components, subsystems, and systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in the operation and optimization of A.M. printers for complex designs and high-precision components.
  • Strong understanding of electronics fundamentals, particularly as applied to RF and microwave systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical direction and fostering continuous learning.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear documentation, reports, proposals, and white papers.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, program managers, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or additional certifications in Additive Manufacturing or a relevant technical discipline is a plus.
