As a key member of CND's Research & Development team, the Medical Writer will be responsible for producing high-quality scientific documents, including research articles, grant proposals, regulatory submissions, and educational materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in scientific writing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into accessible language. As CND's sole Medical Writer, the successful candidate will also be a key leader in further developing the organization's medical writing processes and infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop, author and publish documents in collaboration with the Clinical Research team and the Research & Development team
  • Participate in the strategic publication planning process and implementation of publication plans, including working with author groups to develop and author manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for scientific congresses
  • Teach other senior contributors in the organization about clear and persuasive writing, and tools for generating high-quality prose
  • Work closely with study teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of the data supporting document development to ensure that written work product is scientifically accurate, concise, and fully conforms to the relevant instructions
  • Develop and implement document templates, style standards, reference library, reviewer guidelines, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and high-quality deliverables
  • Working closely with the study team to ensure that results and messages in clinical documents accurately reflect the data
  • Depending on experience and aptitude:
    • Developing and co-authoring statistical analysis plans (the prose component) in a manner that is intelligible to non-specialist audiences
    • Partnering with study biostatisticians in the review of mock and/or blinded tables, figures, and listings (TFLs), and narrative planning for relevant documents
  • Collaborate closely with the CSO, CMO, and other CND staff to monitor and review relevant scientific publications and lead the creation and ongoing management of a centralized company publications library accessible across departments.
  • Work with team members to establish and implement a standardized process for keeping the library up to date, including regular communication of updates and summaries tailored to departmental needs.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience working in a life sciences company
  • Experience in neurology and/or neuroscience field as a Research Associate or Writer preferred.
  • Proven experience as a scientific writer or similar role, with a strong portfolio of published work; experience with regulatory writing and grant proposals is a plus.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • An active interest in the underlying science of the biology as needed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the design, objectives, and results of the studies to enable accurate and effortless communication to our target audiences
  • Must have the ability to lead and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Commitment to quality and timely delivery of results
  • Effective written communication skills with the ability to understand and translate complete texts into simple words.
  • Ability to manage projects from concept to execution while setting and following deadlines

Education, Certifications & Licensures:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline or in Writing/Journalism with substantial experience in scientific writing is required.
  • Master's degree or doctorate preferred

Other:
  • This position is in our Boston, MA regional office and expected to be on site 3-4/days per week.
  • May require quarterly meetings in Scottsdale, AZ headquarters or our regional office in Atlanta.
