Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Procurement and Contract Optimization:

  • Responsible for FCL & LCL procurement of rates, allocation and terms in accordance with the respective agreed thresholds.
    • FCL & LCL Procurements includes Reefers, Specials and Standard equipment.
  • Cooperates with, educates and guides Operations, RDM, TLD, and Business Development.
  • Continuously optimizes existing agreements against market conditions and estimates the potential impact.
  • Cargo steering - Procurement to the Core Carrier Policy


Carrier Management:

  • Responsible for relationships with Carriers.
  • Conducts regular QBRs with core Carriers.
  • Escalation point for capacity and /or other operations issues with Carriers


Operational support:

  • Pro-actively be aware of operational challenges and architect product solutions accordingly.


Pricing Guidance:

  • Selling rate guidance to Operations, RDM, TLD, and Business Development.
  • Work collaboratively with product leadership to strategize on targeted account opportunities.
  • Interacts with GTM while submitting port to port (including rail handled by carriers) ocean freight sell rates.
  • Ability to analyze customer requirements and pricing structure to ensure accuracy.


Contract Management:

Below would apply to all agreements concluded locally by U.S. Ocean Product team

  • Responsible for arranging the respective filing of buying rates.
  • Responsible for proper record retention, as per FMC record retention policy.
  • Catapult maintenance, submission of

    • New Contracts
    • Amendment
    • Accessorial advisories


Market Intelligence

  • Weekly market updates

    • Rate Trends
    • Market Disruptions Impacting Operations

      • Congestion
      • Operational
      • Weather
      • Market Outlook


OTHER SKILLS /ABILITIES

  • In-depth market knowledge, relevant to trade, of the Ocean Freight market
  • Strong and respected Carrier relationships
  • Experience of operating in a multinational business environment
  • Strong commercial mindset and advanced Ocean product knowledge
  • Excellent analytical skills & negotiation experience
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex data/financial information


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, contract management or a related field preferred
  • Senior level experienced professional (10 years minimum) in the Global Ocean Freight Management industry (Product/Commercial BD/Tender Management)
  • Travel (25%) will be required with this position


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Use a computer 75% of the time
  • Standing/Walking 25% of the time
  • Stand or sit for long periods of time
