About Facilities Operations:
With over 200 employees the Facilities Operations team is the largest division of DGS. Facilities Operations work includes preventive maintenance on essential building systems, time critical response to emergency repairs, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services, compliance and service quality oversight for contract support, mail services, as well as electronic and physical security services at select County facilities.
About the Facilities Support Manager Role:

Facilities Support Manager is a skilled building operations and maintenance service classification responsible for specialty county functions within maintenance and operations (i.e. service contracts, energy management, and fire/life/safety/security). This Facility Support Manager position oversees the plumbing and electrical trades, Building Automation Systems (BAS) team, and the Facilities operations enterprise software (Tririga) team. Both BAS and Tririga teams are focused on providing technical support to the field teams maintaining the various County properties. Reporting to the Chief, Departmental Operations, the incumbent will provide support and coordination for the facilities maintenance and repair programs, and projects; and use their building knowledge to focus their team in providing performance metrics for field teams, as well as coordinating with the construction team to ensure new facilities comply with BAS standards.
The main responsibilities are as follows:
  • Supervise, train, and mentor a multi-disciplinary team engaged in Plumbing, Electrical, Building Automation systems (BAS), and the Facilities operations enterprise software (Tririga) team
  • Set goals & expectations for the team, monitor performance, conduct employee reviews, and schedule formal training.
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Oversee BAS repairs, renovations, and installations, ensuring timely completion within budget and to quality standards.
  • Develop remedial and proactive strategies to integrate existing facilities into the BAS system to comply with board policies.
  • Assist construction teams for new facilities and renovations with complying with County BAS standards and monitoring based commission program.

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Strong understanding of building automation systems, able to assist with scope and planning for new projects as well as integrating existing facilities.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, technical manuals, and building codes.
  • Proficient in contract administration for their teams scopes.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, such as OSHA standards.
  • Ability to use maintenance management software and tools.
  • Intermediate understanding of hardware and systems integration for various HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Facilities maintenance performance metrics, process improvements and International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) best practices.

Interview and Hiring dates
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below:

  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or certified foreign studies equivalency in engineering, architecture, business management or public administration, AND five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities operations, three (3) years of which must have been managing a large multi-disciplinary work force involved in the operation and maintenance of a wide variety of complex multi-use facilities.

Notes:
  • Additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-to-year basis.
  • Certificate in facility management, maintenance management, energy management, or construction management may be substituted for two (2) years of operational management experience in applicable specialty.
