About the Job
As a Quarry Superintendent you will have an advanced degree of initiative and judgment to supervise the workload of others, organize and prioritize daily tasks. Proficient level of courtesy, tact and diplomacy are required in dealing with others in every day working relationships.
Based out of our Severn Quarry in the Simcoe Region.
What You'll Be Doing
- Oversee workloads and provide supervision to a large sized, aggregate and quarry operations team to ensure that work is done accurately, efficiently and comply with policies, procedures and regulations as well as best working practices.
- Provide guidance, motivation, and performance review including hiring and terminating employees, maintaining and enhancing competency levels, identifying future training requirements and achieving goals to increase performance. You will work together with staff to resolve grievances.
- Schedule and implement all maintenance programs for stationary and mobile equipment to ensure all machinery operates safely at optimum levels and reduces unnecessary downtime.
- Identify and purchase new equipment, materials and tools required to perform continuous, efficient quarry operations.
- Oversee drilling and blasting operations to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulations and limit exposure to off-site receptors.
- Provide long and short-term extraction planning as well as operational financial budgeting, and public relations campaigns.
- Liaise with various governmental agencies such as Ministry of Labour, Natural Resources and Environment to ensure compliance with regulations and legislation. Complete all necessary documentation and reports for ministries as required.
- Attending community functions as necessary to provide current information and/or education to develop and maintain good relations with neighbours and promote a solid corporate image.
Here's What You Need
- Minimum high school graduation, or equivalent level of education, plus an additional three-year college diploma (CET/Operations Management/Business Management).
- Greater than five years but less than or equal to seven years aggregate/quarry/operations and supervisory experience.
- A valid G Ontario Driver's License in good standing is required for this position.
- WHMIS and Knowledge in The Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
- Experience with Drilling and Blasting an asset
- Knowledge in KPI reporting
- Experience in running a crew of 40 people, managing shift rotation, and managing subcontractors
- Experience in managing a multimillion-dollar budget, and managing 2-million-ton production schedule
- Have the understanding of site plans
- Experience working with the different Ministries
