Job Title: Contract Attorney - Sexual Assault Cases (Depositions & Client Interviews)
Location: On-site (In-Office)
Assignment Length: 1+ Year
Experience Required: 2+ Years Practicing Law
Start Date: Immediate/As Soon As Possible
Overview:
On Call Counsel is seeking a dedicatedAttorney to join a specialized legal team handling a high-volume docket of over 1,200 sexual assault cases. This role will focus heavily on conducting depositions and client interviews, contributing to the fact-finding and litigation preparation process. This is an in-office position that requires a compassionate, professional demeanor and a high degree of discretion and sensitivity to trauma-related subject matter.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed and trauma-informed client interviews to gather critical case information
Prepare for and conduct depositions
Work closely with supervising attorneys
Maintain accurate, organized records and documentation for each case
Communicate effectively with clients, often in emotionally challenging situations
Assist with drafting legal documents and summarizing deposition transcripts, as needed
Navigate and apply knowledge of relevant laws, procedures, and court deadlines
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active NY bar license in good standing
Minimum 2 years of legal practice experience; litigation or trauma-related legal work preferred
Demonstrated ability to handle emotionally sensitive subject matter with empathy and professionalism
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and client-centered service
Additional Details:
Full-time, in-office position
Contract duration: 12+ months with potential for extension
Supportive, collaborative legal team environment
Pay/Experience:
$40/hour for 1 year
$52/hour for 1-3 years
$56.00/hour for 3-7 years of experience
$58.00/hour for 7+ years of experience
