McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is seeking an Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery to provide a full range of services. Candidates must be highly motivated and energetic self-starters who will forge collegial and collaborative relationships with the numerous individuals and services that interact with the Pediatric Surgery division. The Department of Pediatric Surgery is a dynamic environment offering our patients comprehensive and multidisciplinary surgical and medical care. Our surgeons deliver exceptional patient care, provide comprehensive education and training for residents and medical students, and engage in extensive community and academic endeavors. This position is integral to the Women's and Children's Service line. It offers opportunities to aid in developing and expanding fetal surgery clinical and research programs, as well as support for basic and translational research in the Houston, Texas, market.

The Department of Pediatric Surgery is seeking an outstanding, academically minded Pediatric Surgeon. Our children's surgical team takes pride in providing world-class, comprehensive, and compassionate care for children. The positions offered include opportunities to aid in and participate in the development and expansion of fetal surgery clinical and research programs. The Pediatric General Surgery Clinical Program is a world-class program in Houston, Texas. In addition to this Fetal Surgery opportunity, there is also an opportunity for faculty interested in developing a science career. Becoming part of the existing Pediatric Surgery research program, with the opportunity to develop one's own research projects and program, utilizing the extensive mentorship, collaborations, and resources available in Pediatric Surgery.

The selected individual will be able to develop a full-time clinical practice, educate residents and medical students, and be encouraged to participate in clinical and/or basic science research and fetal surgery.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform a variety of pediatric general and specialized surgeries, both inpatient and outpatient.
  • Hold pediatric general surgery outpatient clinics at various locations in the Tucson area
  • Participate in resident education and serve as a clinical advisor to medical students and residents via lectures, didactics, mentoring, and clinical instruction.
  • Participate in committee service as needed by the College of Medicine.
  • Take night and weekend calls.
  • Conduct research appropriate to academic medicine.
  • Provide care spanning the spectrum of pediatric surgical procedures.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Board-certified or eligible in Pediatric Surgery.
  • Evidence of clinical and didactic teaching ability.
  • Established expertise in working with diverse patient populations.
