Description
The Department of Psychology at Hofstra University invites applications for an anticipated full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in Clinical Psychology beginning September 2025. The position is primarily for the PhD Program in Clinical Psychology (as a core faculty member of our APA-approved program; 50% or more of teaching load), with additional responsibilities to the undergraduate psychology program. Candidates with interests in any area of child, adolescent, or adult psychopathology or psychological treatment, are encouraged to apply. Our PhD program follows the scientist-practitioner model and faculty members' clinical orientation represents the spectrum of cognitive behavioral therapy. We are especially interested in the following specialties: relationship therapy, substance abuse, adolescent mental health, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, treatment process research, and use of technology to deliver psychotherapy.
Candidates should show clear evidence of research productivity along with the potential to develop an independent program of research, and a significant commitment to teaching and supervision at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Faculty members are encouraged to supervise a specialty clinic within their area of expertise within a few years of starting the position. The teaching load is 18 credits annually, comprised of traditional courses, externship/internship supervision, and dissertation supervision.

Hofstra faculty also have strong collaborations with the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and the broader Northwell Health system on Long Island, with the potential for a new faculty member to receive cross-appointment and access to healthcare settings as appropriate to their research.
