The AVP of System Informatics Nurse (SIN) Reports to the System CNO serving as the principal leader and advocate for nursing informatics and clinical technology advancement. Collaborate with the Vice President of Applications and delegates. Promotes the use of technology to optimize nursing and patient care services work processes, supports the delivery of evidence-based care and monitors nursing practices and associated patient outcomes. Leads clinical innovations and the transformation of nursing care delivery that is leveraged by technology. SIN uses leadership skills to accomplish responsibility, accountability, and authority to lead nursing services to align synergistically in partnership with the IT team.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Influences behaviors, promotes diversity & develops community and staff trust while demonstrating high level organizational interdepartmental relationship building.
  • Acts as a liaison and collaborates with clinical departments to plan, prioritize, design, implement, and evaluate systems supporting patient care, evidence-based practice (EBP), and research.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends in nursing care delivery, informatics, and technology to escalate safe clinical practice.
  • Contributes to and strengthens the link between EMR and EBP, nursing research, and clinical practice through collaboration with other nursing and healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and in-depth knowledge of clinical applications in the system.
  • Provides broad-based input into the planning, prioritization, design, and implementation of the clinical information systems that support optimal patient care and workflow.
  • Plans, develops and implements strategies for fiscal integrity for assigned areas or special projects. Implements strategies to for expense reduction and management within clinical workflows.
    Direct Report Oversight:
  • Assesses patient care technology utilization, maximization and optimization. In partnership with IT and EPMO teams when opportunities are identified. (inclusive of EMR platform, dashboards, benchmarking, productivity)
  • Integrates standardized practices and coordinates projects and programs, both internal and external to for patient safety, workflow, and transform care delivery for the future.
  • Oversight of nursing practice, standards and clinical excellence as evidenced by EMAR utilization and full functionality
  • Integrates system-wide outcomes into the framework of clinical effectiveness to elevate patient care delivery and patient safety.


Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing Informatics (BSN) required
  • A Master's degree required (MSN, MBA, MHA, Informatics, or leadership focused)
  • RN License in the State of New York
  • 8-10 years of acute care hospital experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of 5 years of hospital leadership experience as a manager or director
  • Epic Experience, preferably in a community connect environment
  • Experience in managing NEAT and ACE programs


Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Nursing Informatics Certification (NI-BC) preferred


Physical Requirements:
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 pounds), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.


Location and Travel Requirements:
  • Onsite at the acute care facilities of CHS
  • 60% onsite at facilities/40% virtual


Pay Range Disclosure:
  • $165,000 to $195,000 per year
