U.S. Bank is seeking a full-time Principal Software Engineer - IBM Mainframe (Multiple openings) in Irving, TX.
Essential Responsibilities:
Design, develop, enhance, and support compliant banking applications on an IBM mainframe that can be deployed on premise and cloud environments by using agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles and JIRA. Specific duties include:
Basic Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering or Electronic Engineering and 5 years (progressive, post-baccalaureate) software development experience on an IBM mainframe.
Required Skills/Experience:
Must also have 60 months of experience with each of the following: 1) Developing application programs using COBOL, VSAM, JCL, SQL Endevor, DB2, and CICS. 2) Performing mainframe automations using IBM RAD, HATS, Postman, Rational Integration Tester (RIT), and JavaScript. 3) Designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting legacy applications on mainframe systems. 4) Designing applications architecture for modern mainframe, process optimizations, and data modelling. 5) Using agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles and JIRA. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.

Essential Responsibilities:
Design, develop, enhance, and support compliant banking applications on an IBM mainframe that can be deployed on premise and cloud environments by using agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles and JIRA. Specific duties include:
- estimating the size of backlog items that the team is responsible for delivering and translating backlog items into engineering design and logical units of work (tasks);
- analyzing, designing, coding, and testing credit card applications developed on the IBM z/OS mainframe platform;
- making sound design and coding decisions and developing application programs using COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, DB2, CA7, SQL Endevor, Git, Jenkins, and IDz;
- creating optimal design adhering to architectural best practices, considering scalability, reliability and performance of systems affected when defining technical designs;
- preparing and performing mainframe automations using Rexx, HATS, Postman, Rational Integration Tester (RIT), Zowe, IBM RAD, and JavaScript;
- designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting legacy applications on mainframe systems;
- writing unit, functional and integration tests for SCRUM teams and performing efficient testing using Mainframe test automation tools such as IBM RAD, HATS, RIT, Postman, and Zowe CLI;
- applying agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles and using JIRA tools, such as IDz, Jenkins and Git;
- designing applications architecture for modern mainframe, process optimizations, snd data modelling; and
- mentoring new mainframe developers and engineers to resolve issues faced during the software development cycle.
- Uses the following tools and technologies: COBOL, VSAM, JCL, DB2, CICS, SQL, Endevor, SDSF, Rexx, Git, Jenkins, UI testing, JIRA, JavaScript, Postman, SORT, Microfocus APS, IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz), IBM ADDI, Microsoft Azure, File Manager, SMTP, Beyond Compare, CA7, IBM RAD, IBM RIT, IBM HATS Toolkit, Zowe CLI, Citrix, Microsoft Visio, Jira, and Zephyr.
