THE WORK
The Airframe Structural Analysis Senior Manager will report to the Director of Aircraft Systems Design and Manufacturing Engineering and will oversee a team of engineers located in several LM locations, primarily Stratford, Connecticut.
The Airframe Structural Analysis Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of the airframe structure, landing gear, mission systems, propulsion, avionics and electrical installations. They will work closely and regularly brief executive level Platform Chief Engineers, Program Directors and Functional Organizations to provide proper staffing and skillsets as well as provide expertise and oversight of technical work being performed in the organization. They are also expected to be the focal to resolve critical/complex technical problems within the airframe structural analysis area. The senior manager is also the primary focal to brief senior leadership and customers regarding the technical or programmatic issues at hand for the programs their team supports. They will serve as the internal interface between Structural Analysis and company disciplines including Program Management, PP&C, Finance, Contracts, Legal, Product Safety, Sikorsky ODA, Flight Sciences, Systems Engineering, Test, Customer Service Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations and Quality. They may provide explanations of technical decisions and analysis processes to Legal in support of litigation.
The Airframe Structural Analysis Senior Manager exerts influence in developing long range business and technical objectives of the overall organization in engineering software toolsets, new material developments, and anything else to advance the state of the art. The senior manager will provide technical and leadership support to development programs, such as Black Hawk Modernization, to minimize development leads times for all tasks through innovative process improvements and/or technology insertions. They will also direct analysis requirements and qualification methodologies to be in alignment with customer air vehicle specifications.
The position requires robust communication with executives and senior managers to find optimum staffing solutions for an evolving mix of projects and forecast longer-range staffing requirements. They are also responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, & work assignments.

Basic Qualifications
BS/BE or MS in Mechanical Engineering
20+ years in rotorcraft/aircraft airframe structural analysis. A deep understanding of rotorcraft design and analysis principles is required, across the entire product life cycle from conceptual design through full scale qualification testing/certification and throughout its service life.
Extensive practical experience and theoretical understanding of static analysis, fatigue analysis, and fracture mechanics of metallic and composite airframe structure and landing gear
Working knowledge of airworthiness requirements and verification methods
Earned Value Principles and applying them to meet contractual obligations and report out status to program management.
Program estimating/scheduling/critical path management.
Proven history of technical leadership
Extensive interface with customer airworthiness and technical counterparts as well as customer leadership
Outstanding communication, team building, and mentoring skills
Demonstrated commitment to a safety first culture
Demonstrated commitment to our Cultural Imperatives
Ability to obtain a secret clearance
Travel ~5%
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $144,600 - $255,070. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
